It was about midday and the sun was bright in the sky. It was a perfect weather for some good training Illia thought. She slipped into her armor and grabbed a couple of sickles, a bow, and several arrows from the weapons rack and made her way to the training grounds. Once there she summoned her helmaroc familiar, Chandra. “Ok girl, here’s the plan. I want you to grab that loose dummy over there and fly around. I’ll try and shoot it” The great bird screeched indignantly at her master. “Hey! I won’t miss this time, that was a long time ago and I am a much better shot now.” She blew a puff of air at her bangs. “Fine then. I’ll grab some targets and I want you to go catch them in the air.” Chandra seemed to like this idea much more. Illia found three small wooden disks and threw them skyward, the helmaroc let out a delighted squawk and flew up after them, collecting one in it’s beak and the other 2 in its talons before returning them to her. Once they repeated this maneuver a couple of times she would want to move on to other things, but sometimes it was good when training and playing coincided with each other.
Let's go train everyone!

I am immune to you. We are both sick souls with the same disease. The morning had been spent out patrolling the passes around the hideout. Mostly resetting the boulder traps to keep away unwanted travelers. Being the only earth user in the foot soldier ranks had its perks to getting out of the ridiculous excuse of combat training that most of the initiates were subject to. It gave both Yara and Jett a chance to stretch out their muscles before the real training began, and speaking of such, Yara had been trying to find her instructor. It seemed that Master Hagane wasn’t to be found when he had told her to be ready. Though she didn’t assume he was blowing her off she knew he was essentially Master Ryuu’s second in command and any task that he was currently engaged in would be more important than training the newbie. Yara was going to make the most of her “free” time while she waited and begin preparing for the work she would have to go through when her master arrived. She walked into the training yard to find it occupied by one of the other foot soldiers. Yara had crossed paths with her occasionally and knew enough to know that she was a competent weapons user. She had even heard that the young woman was a wind user. Though Yara preferred to keep to herself most of the time it wouldn’t hurt her training any to find a compatible peer to spar with. She watched from the shadows for the time being not wanting to disrupt Illia’s training with her familiar. @illiakuzumi - # # # - notes MADE BY VEL OF GS

Illia threw 2 targets up into the air, pulling out her bow and losing an arrow after each them. The Helmaroc darts up after them and snatches them from the air before turning its head sharply and letting out a screech as it dives at, and lands in front of Yara. The bird drops the 2 targets, 2 arrows sticking out of the center of each of them (such was the magic of a duplex bow) and starts squawking indignantly at the newcomer. “Hey, what’d you find over there, Chandra. Something fun?” Illia’s head pokes from around the bird and smiles widely. “Oh! It’s a person, and Axel’s protégé to boot! You look bored out of your mind. His disposition must already be wearing off on you. You want to train? It’d help get your blood moving.” In all honesty she was a bit envious of her place as Axel’s apprentice. He surely had much to teach, and hopefully she had learned something worth sharing in a sparring match. Illia would just have to learn Axel’s tricks vicariously she supposed.

I am immune to you. We are both sick souls with the same disease. Yara was surprised by the indignant helmaroc in her face, had she not already been backed up against the wall she would have moved some. However, she remained still as it squawked and chatted until Illia popped up behind the iridescent purple bird. She was overly peppy and enthusiastic. Maybe this was a bad idea. “I was merely conveying to you the awe I was in your mastery with a bow” she said sardonically with a mild grin. If this little finch was going to make snide comments about her or her Master’s moods then she may as well deal with the bite that came with it. She pushed herself up from the wall and cracked her neck; a trait, now that it was pointed out was distinctly Axel’s. She scowled mentally, the little finch wasn’t wrong. “I’m up for some training, the question is, are you?” She grinned dangerously but her deep blue eyes sparkled with an eager mirth. She was up for a good sparing match without getting pushed harder and harder every two seconds. She certainly didn’t mind it thought, she knew she had managed to do something that seemed to be ridiculously unheard of and she would have taken a daily beating if it meant to be trained by such a skilled master as Axel. Yara wasn’t egotistical enough to let it go to her head, she knew she hardly measured up half of the time and why he even put up with her she didn’t even really understand it herself. She walked to the center of the training ring, left hand on her hip smiling “come along lil’ finch show me how you do it”

Illia smiles brightly, “Of course I’m good with the bow dear. I practice every day and having good equipment doesn’t hurt either!” She was excited about the opportunity to train with Yara, she was fairly new, but seemed to know a good amount. But, she was getting a bit too friendly with the higher ups. Illia hated that, but also respected it. She would have to see what this woman was made of that made her so special. Leaving her weapons by the door, she walks over to the other side of the ring from Yara. Assuming a very open and light martial stance she says “Oh, don’t worry, if your eyes are fast you might even learn something from me too. I hope you’re ready, here I come.” Thrusting herself forward with a gust of wind, she starts dashing forwards towards Yara, on the look out for any flying rocks or walls that would pop up, or any other signs of earth magic happening at her feet.

I am immune to you. We are both sick souls with the same disease. Taking a deep stance, feet planted into the earth right leg supporting her to the back with her left forward, she felt Illia’s light movements within the earth. Granted being a wind user she was lighter than a non-wind user, it seemed she was using the wind to enhance her movement speed. However, Yara had learned to listen to the faintest of vibrations within the earth and she was able to follow Illia’s quick movements without having to hear her, her eyes tracked her fast enough as well but she had learned to rely more on the earth and what it gave to her. She slid her left foot to the right planting her heel firmly down as she lifted a chunk of dirt from behind Illia just within the young woman’s supposed blind spot. She didn’t compact the dirt into stone, she wasn’t looking to cause injury, and then pulled it to towards Illia’s back. As the dirt clump prepared to make contact Yara than took a solid step forward stamping her right foot down to up raise a dirt wall that exceeded Illia’s height and wide enough that it would take more than a simple dodge to the left or the right to evade. @tag- # # # - notes MADE BY VEL OF GS

Illia was in tune with her surroundings and heard dirt gathering behind her head, putting a hand behind her and releasing a gust of wind should be enough to dispel it if it wasn’t compacted. “I thought this was supposed to be a sparring match. What’s with all the tricks?” She sees the earth start to tremble as it begins to form itself into a wall, which she jumps to the side of quickly. “Oh, that one was pretty good.”
Standing within striking distance of Yara she resumes her stance, “So when were you going to get serious?” She smiles widely at her sparring partner. This was going to be great fun, regardless of how it went. Hopefully she could give Axel’s lapbitch a good workout though.
Yara - this is about to get fun.

I am immune to you. We are both sick souls with the same disease. This woman talked too damn much, Yara was used to silence unless there was instruction being dished out or sharp remarks. “I am being serious, you’re the one that won’t stop talking,” her voice was flat “If you didn’t want to use the elements you should have said so.” Where Yara had implied that the sparring included using her element it appeared Illia had not. She needed to practice her hand to hand combat anyway. “Ok then,” she said taking a defensive stance. This was certainly not her area of expertise but she would try. She would learn something at any rate and that’s what Yara looked for in any sort of match in the training yard. @illiakuzumi - # # # - notes MADE BY VEL OF GS

Illia smiled, “Oh, if this isn’t something you’re good at I can teach you some basics. Let’s start with block.” Illia throws a fist towards Yara’s face. She would then try to force a couple more towards her torso, followed by several quicker jabs to the torso while closing distance between them until it started to feel like yara was getting comfortable with Illia’s motions, but had to lean back or move to keep her position. Once she either went to move or was leaned back sufficiently illia would do a leg sweep to attempt to knock her off balance. The lesson here was to not accept complacency in battle. Illia knew she had years of practice on the newbie. This was just a warm up.
Lets get this started!!! Yara

I am immune to you. We are both sick souls with the same disease. Yara blocked Illia’s punches deftly enough as she had trained with Jett plenty of times with deflection. She was frustrated by being pushed back, she didn’t like losing her ground. However, the one thing she had on Illia was attunement with the earth and Yara could determine the young woman’s placement and shift it motion. As Illia went to sweep out and knock Yara off balance Yara swept herself back, keeping her feet firmly planted to the ground. The only thing Illia knocked off balance was the space where Yara had stood moments before. If Illia paid enough attention she would notice that the earth itself didn’t look to be disrupted either, which would be deemed odd as Yara’s stance was firm and her feet grounded. She had at least learned to move deftly while being attuned to such a strong and defensive element. “Next lesson?”
