What an absolutely disgusting display of "skill" come back when you think you're actually worth something. ▼ | Axel stayed still, his eyes still locked on the same area as Yara spoke. "Exactly." There was no better thought than a world where Ganon's ideals come to fruition. He almost closed his eyes, but they shot back open at the sound of the rain slowing, but thunder rumbling in the distance. "We've hit a break in the storm, lets get out of here before we get caught here all night." He really didn't want to go through dead or dying trees to dig for some sort of tinder to try and get some sort of pathetic fire going. Everything was drenched, and the odds of him finding stuff for a fire were incredibly low.
It was winter, so it was still kind of chilly, even down here in the Jungle. Stepping out of the shelter, he felt his muscles give a complaint to moving so suddenly. Cold and wet. In his mind, he commanded them to quit their bitching and began moving along the trail. As he walked, he spoke up just a bit, actually slowing to a halt to look down at Yara. She was so alike him when he was her age. What was it that set her off and made her this way to begin with? While he didn't know, and honestly didn't really care, it would be detrimental to the clan if she were to stay that way. So what did he want the most when he was an angry and upset teenager and young adult? "I don't know what has you so indignant to the world around you, or even yourself." If she was anything like him, she hated literally everything. He despised his weakness, the weakness around him and everything and everyone in the world just for existing. He was still kind of that way, though his anger was more controlled with terrifying fits of anger.
"You're not alone. It took me a long time to realize that. It took me trusting the master enough to open up to him about my past. So however long it takes you to accept what's happened to you and or what you've become, I just want to let you that you're not alone. I'm here if you ever need anyone." Puffing his cheeks, he furrowed his brow and looked back to the trail ahead, quickly resuming his walking pace without another word. He could even feel Mot, although Mot was a mix between amused and proud. They were all brothers and sisters in arms anyhow, turning your back on one or another would be turning your back on the family that accepts you for who you really are. Axel had heard that so many times, he was just too... closed off and calloused to really feel any solace in that fact. Maybe he could save Yara from becoming a heartless bitch to the ones that care just as he became a cold bastard to the ones that tried to care about him.
Sometimes all you need is someone strong enough to withstand your verbal abuse, someone who cares enough to yell at you and someone who's loyal enough that your darkest secrets never leave their lips to another soul. |

I am immune to you. You are immune to me.
We are both sick souls with the same disease. Then that is something indeed worth dying for she thought breathing deeply feeling like a large burden was lifted off her lungs. It was like breathing for the first time, when you find a purpose and point to what had been seemingly useless existence. She felt lighter yet also grounded more than before. She followed after him silently as they stood and she stretched her arms and stiff muscles as they walked until he stopped looking down at her with those fierce eyes of his. She was expecting a scolding for something or other that she probably fucked up on but what came out of his mouth took the breath out of her lungs like Jett had knocked the wind out of her. What the hell?! She stopped her internal dialogue to listen; breaking eye contact and staring at one of the puddles on the ground. For a moment she almost wishes she could melt into the ripples as the rain pattered down. It was like he had managed to crack her open and go straight to heart of the issue. Like he was able to see past her many barriers, it wasn’t so much that he was looking for it and she knew that but she didn’t think it would have been something he would have ever addressed or cared about. He was the most hardassed person she had encountered and his menacing strength and prowess was what had made her instantly respect him. Why she had tried so hard to train diligently. If he was even going to bother with a git of a girl like her it wasn’t because he had a soft spot for aimless foot soldiers. She would have been able to tell if he was fucking with her but from the tone of his voice and the in-depth expository she deduced that he wouldn’t have waisted his energy if he hadn’t meant it. It was a good thing it was raining; she felt a tear sting her eyes and a sob well up in her throat. However, she let out a garbled cough and resumed walking behind him clenching her fists. She had tried to steal herself and not say anything bust for some reason it all just welled up inside her and started to spill out. “I’ve failed since the day I was born to be enough for someone to keep me.” She stopped grabbing onto a tree for support, for some reason she was having trouble breathing. It was probably due to the effort to keep herself from unraveling. “Then they threw me away to save their own skins and I was left behind to be beaten senseless for the most asinine reasons constantly.” Asinine came rolling out like a feral growl and a sob being choked down, she hit the tree with her fist letting the pain from the bark biting her knuckles wash over her as she let out a gasp taking in a deep breath. “Every weak and stupid overseer stomped me into the damn dirt reminding me that I was not wanted or purposeful to anyone. Eventually once your told enough times how worthless you are you start to believe them.” Her voice was cool as a couple of tears slipped down her cheeks apparently acting as the relief to the building pressure; her eyes refocused and she shrugged examining her knuckles. “That’s why I fight so hard…I am trying to prove myself wrong.” She made eye contact with him and if anyone followed the colloquial phrase “eyes are a window to the soul” it was as if her window was wide opened and she was vulnerable for the first time with someone else that didn’t intend her harm. She could feel Jett’s empathy and anger at the pain that rolled inside of her, also he seemed to be pleased to finally get to see behind her barriers. This conversation wasn’t just for the two standing in a jungle soaked to the bone it seemed.

What an absolutely disgusting display of "skill" come back when you think you're actually worth something. ▼ | Axel watched as Yara found a tree for balance, then punched said tree, but he didn't say anything. At least not yet. As she went on about the being thrown away, he couldn't help but frown just a bit at that thought. Feeling like you're alone in the world and no one cared for you was rough, but if he could persevere, so could she. And if anything, he could help her faster than he helped his self. Nothing came from helping yourself, nothing but even more resentment.
Once she looked at him, he stood there for a moment longer, eyes staring back into hers and instantly recognizing that she was done talking. "You can fight to prove yourself wrong, but until you let that go and fight to better yourself and fight for what you believe in, you'll be stuck there." He sighed and walked over to her, gripping the elbow closest to him and pulling her away from the tree. "If you were constantly told you were weak and stupid no matter what improvements you made, then as you fight to prove yourself wrong and to tell yourself that you're not some useless pile of shit you will continously push yourself until you're so mentally exhausted that you lose your mind, take your own life or both." He wasn't going to open up about his own past as an example. This wasn't the time, and unlike her, he had been hardened over the years into some sort of partially numbed psychological state. The state where you bottle up what you feel until you explode and go back to stage one. It honestly sucked, it really did. Which was why he didn't want to see someone that reminded him so much of a younger version of his self end up like him.
"The only way you can truly prove yourself wrong, that you're not worthless is by first, recognizing that if you weren't important enough to them for them to be assed to actually help build you up, then their opinion of you does not matter. You're worrying yourself over someone who obviously didn't care for you. Secondly, the hardest part, is you have to put it all behind you and rise above the nagging feeling of self resentment. Everything they did to you matters no longer. You are one of Ganon's now, and you're one of us. Trust me when I say that here, people do care. Don't be like me and shut that all out until it's too late." He kept a stoic, calm face. Though deep down, he felt a mix of prickling rage and sorrow pick away at his stone heart.
"You're not some lowly foot soldier. At the end of the day, we all sit around, tell our stories, eat our bananas and tell each other good night. We all strive to better and take care of each other." He used we anyways, knowing damned well that he shut his self out from all the extra stuff around the hideout that the other Yiga did. He had come out of his shell a lot more recently, and he figured that was just age wisening him up, but he still had a long way to go in opening up. |

I am immune to you. You are immune to me.
We are both sick souls with the same disease. He was met with mild resistance as he pulled her away from the tree but that only made her reaction more cumbersome and she had to grab onto his other arm to keep from falling. Two things went through her mind; one being that he was touching her but it wasn’t because she was being beaten, secondly why did this conversation have to hurt so damn much?
He hit every damn nail on the head and his words washed of her emotional and psychological wounds like alcohol. It burned as it cleaned the raw infection, and her hands gripped his forearms. If he hadn’t been there to support her she probably would have found herself on her knees as he continued to talk. She thought she had patched up the conversation by stuffing it down but it didn’t seem like he was going to let her get off that easily. Her body shook as more tears streamed down her face, she was grateful that he was much taller than her and with him being at this proximity he couldn’t see her face as she kept her head down as she grappled with herself. She was hiding her pain, her tears, and her weakness from him. She was honestly surprised he hadn’t brushed her off and resumed heading out of the jungle. She knew that as he spoke he spoke for the clan. She knew he isolated himself away and did not connect with anyone else, except for maybe Master Ryuu. “You make it sound so damn easy,” she bit through her tears “like the difference between dirt and stone. It’s not that simple, it can’t be that simple it hurts too much and pain is weakness.” Her eyes burned up at him fiercely raised her head, they were alight with a rage of self-loathing and pain.

What an absolutely disgusting display of "skill" come back when you think you're actually worth something. ▼ NOTES:Notewords | "When and where did I say any of this is easy?" He felt her lack of balance, and the weakness of all this did boil his anger just a bit. But he remained stoic and caught her other arm, holding the much smaller Yiga up with ease. And he stayed silent after those words, staring back down at Yara's fiery gaze, his own lighting up just a bit thanks to an eye twitch. He wasn't use to this much contact for so long if it didn't including taking down a target.
It wasn't easy to get over it, Axel was into his fourties, and he had been closed off and hateful for almost his entire life. The difference was that while Axel had yet to really let it go, he was just really good at tempering his self and keeping control over those emotions. He spent to long burning up with hatred that it had permanently branded itself onto his being, he was pretty sure. That was one of his main goals for Yara now too, to stop her from branding herself into someone so hateful and closed off that at the age of fourty they still can't open up and trust the very people she still has to work with and trust every day.
Self-loathing would eventually breed into a universal hatred for all things. Take it from experience. |

I am immune to you. You are immune to me.
We are both sick souls with the same disease. She held his state firmly for a few moments assessing what she could trying to make heads or tails of this whole mess she had wandered into. She had, had questions about her general purpose in the grand scheme of things but she had not imagined that it was going to lead down a path that forced her bloody, mangled mess of an identity out into the open. He was right; he hadn’t said it would be easy. But he had said it with a matter-of-factness that only came from experience. Hindsight was 20/20; but assessing who she was dealing with it didn’t take her long for it to dawn on her that the experience he was speaking from was from a lack of proactive action and instead reactive. He, she rationalized, was still trying to make heads or tails of his own mess. This realization came crashing down on her like a ton of bricks and maybe there was more purpose in their dynamic than him constantly being faced by a disappointment. She broke eye contact as the stream of tears slowed and she let out a deep, ragged sigh. The dawning realization that he was not her enemy calmed the raging storm inside her. She didn’t have to be a defensive pain in the ass. She didn’t have to be vigilant on her own, at least not from him anyway. If he cared enough, and it seemed he did, to hold her while she cried it was probably an indication that he had her, or rather their best interest in mind. Their, meaning the clans best interest anyway. She wouldn’t be any good to anyone if she let the past dictate her present and future. She composed herself regaining her leg strength. She didn’t want to overstay her welcome in this emotional joyride she had been swept away on in the middle of the damn jungle. She released his arms but when he still held onto right elbow she looked up at him; “Ya know,” she bit her lower lip contemplatively trying to redirect the conversation from focusing solely on herself “maybe by the time we’re done with this we’ll both come out of it learning something.” Her voice was lighter and did not grate like the growls before. She wasn't going to call him out on his particular absence from the majority of the "happy family" dynamic he had portrayed, she wasn't entirely an idiot. Reflectively she recalled his agitation and apparent discomfort, his wounds might not have been satisfactorily heeled and here he was tromping out in the jungle trying to teach her sorry ass how to work with Jett which then turned into a fucking bawling fest on her part. She ridiculed herself mildly for being so selfish and showing weakness like she had. “Your legs…the wounds haven’t healed, fully have they?” It was her turn to ensure he was alright even if he tried to hide it from her. She was observant in her own ways to the needs of those around. @tag- # # # - notes MADE BY VEL OF GS

What an absolutely disgusting display of "skill" come back when you think you're actually worth something. ▼ | "Now lets get a move on before the storm catches up to us." he spoke up when she released his arms, his own hands dropping from her elbows as well. She seemed to still have a pretty good bit of her balance back now that the horse had stopped bucking. "Maybe." He knew that he had a lot to learn, he just wasn't as open about it as others. Continuing on the trail, further towards the edges of the jungle, he decided to stop and summon Mot once she asked him about his legs.
"Get on." No point in hiding it anymore. Gripping the short mane of the bear just under his obsidian collar, he threw his self onto mot and scooted his self into the spot he'd usually ride him in. "They're healed enough, but they still protest. If I had stayed on rest any longer, it would've been detrimental to my reflexes and muscle." Mot was more than big enough for the two of them to fit comfortably, it was just that if Yara got onto the bear like he'd said, she'd have to adjust to his abnormal gait.
Bears walked very differently from most animals, and riding on one was like trying to stay on top of a Chu-chu during an earthquake. He wouldn't urge Mot into a run, he didn't want to have Yara thrown off of him because of the strange bounce a bear had to their run. "It's better and faster than walking. Mot covers a lot of ground, especially if I get him running." Oh right, Yara had never seen Mot in a full run. Not many people had. Axel preferred to stay tricky with where he was summoned. But when a bear wanted to move, they could, and so could Mot. |

I am immune to you. You are immune to me.
We are both sick souls with the same disease. She approached the two bears realizing her height difference again. She attempted to clamor up awkwardly and then she stopped frowning slightly. She made a small stone upraise beneath her giving herself the lift she needed and she settled herself behind him. At first, she wasn’t planning on holding on until Mot began walking and his gait threw her forward into Axels back. She instinctually caught herself by grabbing onto the first solid thing, or in this case someone, within reach. If there was one certain thing Yara was lacking it was her ability to balanced, which was due to the offset of her hearing loss and that offset her entire center. She scrambled back sinking her fingers into Mot’s fur on either side of the large bears spine as she became used to his gait. It was not a graceful ordeal but her side was appreciative of the reprieve. Her eyes wandered aimlessly for a bit and her eyes settled on Axel’s back. Her own scars tingled at the memory of how they had been received as she noted the many scars that decorated him. He was a canvas of scars that each told a different story of the pain they had inflicted upon him. Maybe she was more alike to him than she had thought. She wouldn’t ask about them though, it wasn’t her place to pry. If he ever found it prudent to open up to her about it he would but in the mean time she would do her best to try to prevent him from receiving more. “Just…let me know if you plan for him to run…it’s a bit off center for me back here,” she admitted begrudgingly

What an absolutely disgusting display of "skill" come back when you think you're actually worth something. ▼ NOTES:yaranergui | Axel didn't budge when she crashed into his back, instead, he kept his eyes forward, body moving with Mot's own movements out of sheer habit. Once Yara settled in behind him, he moved his hands to place them on his knees while they carried forward. "Takes practice to ride a bear. Bad balance or not." He informed her smoothly. The first month of riding Mot was hell. He was covered in bruises and he was pretty sure that the large impact area from riding on him wasn't going to recover from the damage it recieved. Especially with all that bouncing when he runs.
"If he runs, just lean forward, keep ahold of him and put your feet against his hips or legs. Squeeze what you can with the entirety of your legs and hold on." It was strenuous riding one of these guys, and he was incredibly tempted to kick him into a sprint just for shits and giggles, but he refrained for now. "Have you ever ridden any animals. Besides Jett." He looked over his shoulder just a bit. She'd been quiet for the most part while back there, but then again, she had just smashed into him. And most people just stopped talking when they bumped into him.

We are both sick souls with the same disease. When he looked back at her she diverted her gaze quickly as her cheeks flushed. Probably from all of the crying paired with the fact she had been caught contemplating his scars. “No, I haven’t even really ridden Jett either.” She said flatly as she dug her fingers into Mots making a grip for both hands should he take off. “Riding has never been one of my stronger points.” She was probably being a little too forthcoming now with her weaker points, but he was bound to find out soon enough and honestly, she didn’t feel like getting thrown off the Goliath of a bear that was below her. She had a fondness for Mot though the feeling was not reciprocated, she hoped that maybe she could get the salty bear to not completely disregard her at some point though. It seemed that was a mutual exchange between Axel and Mot. She already gripped the bear with her legs as much as she could. This was going to be a bumpy ride.
