The air was thick with salt carried by the colder winter winds from the Lanayru coastal waters; laden with the call of gulls as they circled over their nesting grounds along the Necluda Sea. The morning sun cast a bright glow into the alcove of Maple Point and its light danced along the waves as if a pair of sea nymphs glided along in a courtship dance below the surface; leaving only the golden dust behind as a remnant of their wooing. Where they slipped off to be was a secret only the sea could tell and it was quit mute on the matter, instead it called gently to the children of the land beckoning them sweetly to wonders unknown.
It was early morning and the sea was greeted by an unusual guest who perched herself on one of its sister’s rocks. A young female Zora of scarlet and black mottled over a white frame was bent over an open book and an array of flora as she munched thoughtfully on her breakfast of fresh rock crab. She sketched and made notes as she examined a hibiscus bloom; it was a cross between her own scarlet coloring and a fuchsia with the stamen a vibrant yellow covered in orange pollen. She had only heard about the hibiscus blossom but had never seen its beauty before.
Lelana sat up stretching her arms out wide before picking up her cup of tea, she had made a tea from the blossoms recalling how much of a delicacy it was back in the domain. Lelana had felt more at peace since she had taken her first steps out of Lanayru, as if the shackles of her old life had finally been broken she had stepped out into the world.
She cast her eyes out to the ocean knowing he was probably out there somewhere hunting or looking for the malgyorgs he had talked so much about. Reuniting with Flynn had been an unexpected ordeal as she had thought he was dead after nine years of trying to evade the Zora warriors who had hunted him after an alleged treasonous act. She had loved him silently then and had dedicated herself to trying to aid him through those long years but in the end, she had not had the courage to be what he needed then. It hadn’t been until after his reported demise that she had begun to harden her resolve and grow ever increasingly less complacent until she had left her home, on the run as a runaway determined to make her own path and seek her own fates.
She hadn’t expected those feelings to still be so strong but in reality, she had never been able to lay them to rest either. So here she was alone on a beach in a different region discovering the bounties of Hyrule while traveling with someone who had haunted her feelings for more than a decade. It was a strange world, how the Goddess and Ganon had crafter to their own ends a path that had brought the two of them together again. It was uncertain if it was for ill intent and the road was not going to be seamless without trial. She had already heard a strange stirring from the people, a warning about the state of Hyrule, this news was received when she had left Flynn for a day to travel to Kakariko Village for supplies.
Sighing heavily, she wished they could just hide from it all, sometimes she wondered if she ever really needed anything more than his companionship. Again, her mother’s gentle voice echoed through her memory warning her against borrowing trouble. Lelana was a Zora who worried beyond the present moment and she didn’t need to, otherwise it would muddle the joy and peace of the present sitting on this rock, on this morning, with him somewhere nearby.

Am I part of them? Are they part of me? |
Flynn definitely didn't know what to think about traveling with someone else after so long of running it solo, but he was pretty sure he was enjoying it. He was smiling almost the whole time (he does that anyways to begin with) but he also found his self being more explorative about the surroundings. He was like a curious puppy that kept finding his way into trouble, and even now, as he lept out of the water to land on a rock jutting out from the sea, his eyes locked on the shadows in the water.
The Malgyorgs themselves jumped out of the water, interacting with their monster bretheren. He was glad that these fellas remembered his scent. All the times he had fed them to try and make sure they'd leave him alone in these waters unless he wanted to play, they'd better. But that's about all they'd do, leave him alone or play. He didn't mind though, these Malgyorg had been the key to his sanity over these past couple of months. Letting out a primal growl, Flynn's legs drew taught and he launched his self back into the water, kicking around and snatching at the other sharks as they played a game of fish style bitey face.
The winter wind carried cold air, but it wasn't that bad down here, especially when you got into the water. As he swam around, he finally gripped a tail and stood up in the shallows, arms wrapped tight around the flailing fish as he laughed triumphantly... before yelping and falling back into the water with the shark. He was burning an incredible amount of energy, so much he was pretty sure that he'd have to hunt a couple of deer for him and Lelana.
Despite burning this energy though, he spent a relatively long amount of time out in the water before he finally bid his friends good bye, watching them swim away as he his self went back to the shallows, standing when he could to put his head above water. Walking out of the shallows, he shook his head like a soaked dog and looked to Lelana with a stupid grin. "Find anythin' new?" He asked, hands coming up to his face and thumbs running across his gills.
He found his self staring at her though, taking in the sight of her on a rock, studying, munching on a crab. It felt so out of place everytime he looked at her and saw her roughing it, but something looked right about it, like deep down, she was made for adventuring... maybe he had nothing to worry about after all. Finishing his walk out of the water, he tread across the way to come and stand next to Lelana, careful not to drip on her, her tea or her book, he tried his best to peek over curiously.

Lelana had gone back to her note scribing when she heard the commotion of Flynn wrestling with the Malgyorgs. She knew he was safe from being out-right attacked and he had gone on and on like an excited child the closer they had traveled to the coastline. It would seem being classified as a monster after Ganon’s own heart had its perks. Lelana wouldn’t have been able to explore those ferocious creatures if it had been her but she was sure if the point ever came up where she wished to go into deeper waters.
She had never seen the beaches of Hyrule before or the sea and there was a piece of her that yearned for its fathomless waters desperately. There was also a part of her that yearned for the clear fresh water passages that wove its way through the kingdom. It was the mingling of her genetics; her father was a Sea Zora while her mother was a of the River tribes. The River tribe in her is what fostered a craving in her for the rough of the wilds. It suited her she had determined.
It wasn’t till he stood behind her that she raised her head to look up at him. If her cheeks were not already covered by scarlet markings her blush would have been apparent. There was something about his raw, monstrous body that always caught her unawares; especially when he was so close to her.
Turning back to her work she nodded reaching for the hibiscus blossom to hand it to him. “Yes I did, this was a rare medicinal plant back in the domain but the merchants sold the tea to the nobleman. I read once that it helps cleanse the body, purifying the liver and kidneys while it can also be used to sooth symptoms of the seasonal ailments.” she then offered him her cup of tea that she had sweetened with some honey they had found back in to woods, that had been an interesting experience.
The tea was a bright pink with a sweet floral aroma, it tasted just as it looked. “I have never seen the blossoms before and I think they are quite exquisite, I’ve found some other color variations as well, but I only picked one. That’s how you know if you truly care about something; if you like a flower you pick it and leave it to eventually wither and die, but if you love something you leave it to stay rooted and grow stronger. At least that’s what the head herbalist always would say.”
She smiled sweetly up at him “so how did it go with you malgyorgs?” she wanted him to know she was just as interested in his activities as he seemed to be in hers.

Am I part of them? Are they part of me? |
Flynn watched her blush, and in his own confusion, he turned a shade of purple, his eyes widening some until she turned back to her work. He knew that blushing could be a number of things, was she sick? No, probably not, she had always been a bit on the shy side, so maybe that little side was still clinging to her just a bit, just enough to make her blush when someone got too close.
Quietly, Flynn took the flower and looked it over in his hand, listening to Lelana speak. "Sounds almost like a 'too good ta be true' flower." He spoke quietly, swapping out the tea for the flower before looking at it, then to her, face completely and utterly unsure. "Ya sure ya want me drinkin outta yer cup?" He asked before she started speaking again, tentatively, he held the cup up to his lips and took a small sip, placing it back down. It was sweet, it was good, but there was just something about it that wasn't kicking his grittle. Maybe it was because he was hungry? He was always hungry though, he had several extremes. 'i could eat', 'hungry' and 'Pretty sure if I was normal this woulda made me sick by now'.
He continued watching her quietly, eyes looking back up to hers once again, his smile growing before he tamed it back down to a sharp, toothy grin. "They remembered me! So we played some grab n pull as well as some bitey face." Amazingly, he wasn't bitten by the sharks hard enough to break his skin, but then again, his skin was tougher now than a usual Zoras, and they also played around with him a lot more gentle than they did with each other. The two Malgyorg were smart enough to know he didn't have the rough hide or rocky head like they did.
"Pretty sure the female is pregnant though. She lashed at the male a few times when he tried getting too rough with me." He muttered quietly, eyes looking out to the sea. "That and she reeked of heat freshly passed." He stated simply, sitting down next to Lelana to look at her, a surprised look taking over his features again. "oh! haha. sorry. Ya prolly didn' wanna know bout all that."

She started embarrassedly again has he pointed out the issue with sharing the cup, it hadn’t even crossed her mind Though she was pretty sure his concern came from sharing it with a monster and not the exchange of lips shadowing where another’s had been. He was very particular about that fact with her and though it wasn’t lost on her what he was now it didn’t change who he was and what that had meant to her before. That was the thing though, he didn’t know and she honestly didn’t know if she should tell him.
No, she would tell him…when it was the right moment. But whenever she felt it might be the right moment her nerves would always get the best of her and she would back off it. It probably wouldn’t do good to overwhelm him with all of the information anyway, it had been nearly a decade since he had a companion, seen her, or even had friendly contact with another person. Throwing emotional feelings like love into the mix would make his newly established life more complicated. She wanted to be a source of ease for him not another problem to deal with.
As he spoke about the malgyorgs she listened attentively, giving him her full and undivided attention. She loved it when he went on about things he was experienced in, even when they had been in the med clinic patching him up as he talked about whatever he was in the mood to talk about at the time. She had always been so soft spoken so she had just soaked it up unless they entered into a friendly debate over their religious theologies.
She closed up her journal, tucking the miscellaneous plants into its pages to make room for him. “Oh no, not at all I love-“she coughed stumbling for a moment “-listening to you talk about such things, you are very knowledgeable and that’s quite enthralling to listen to…cause…I like learning and such” she flustered and then closed in on herself, shoulders slumping as she resumed drinking her tea making sure she had discreetly moved it so the rim where his lips had touched didn’t touch hers.
She was such a blustering idiot.

Flynn watched her fluster more and just decided to stare at her for a moment. She was coughing and stumbling and.. oh geez. "Hey, breathe." He pat her on the back gently for a couple of seconds before looking back out to see. "I mean, I've never fought a Malgyorg." He makes a face for a moment. "At least not tooth ta tooth. I've always kinda felt a sort of spiritual kinda connection to'em. As silly as it sounds." He continued staring at the sea for a bit longer, moving to sit cross legged now, instead of on his legs.
"All I can really tell ya is the social stuff. They usually never travel in packs bigger than two. N sometimes if they bond strong enough, a male n female will stick ta each other till one er the other goes. The babies are live born, n can fend for emselves straight outta the womb. They go on ta find their own other half. I've seen a few Malgyorg though stick around n the shallows n never find their other half. Kinda sucks, but they're good sharks." He spoke calmly, eyes watching as the male he was wrestling with earlier lept from the water to snatch a jumping fish.
"They're tough as nails too. They can swim in sand n they can survive in salt, brackish n fresh water rivers." With a wide grin, he looked over to her to double check on her, his features showing some concern for just a moment before he grinned once again. "I wish I could get em ta let ya swim with em." But if he was catching any more food right now, he would be the one eating it.

She watched the waters with him, her face serene and contemplative as her head rested on her knees. She perked up watching the large male hunting “There is something quite amazing about their raw, primal ferocity.” She mused aloud “I imagine there are many other creatures and monsters that share those qualities.”
She snuck a glance at him noting his own underlying ferocity. He was overall a laid back and easy going individual and it had always stood out from the rest of the territorially aggressive males back in the domain. Many had tried to woo her shoving the brutish, arrogant machismo as a selling point. It must have been because her appearance was distinctly unique, also because she had been too demure once. The larger males always seemed to like a softer-spoken mate.
At any rate that was not her anymore and if she ever had to cross spearheads with them she would have kicked their sorry butts. While it was not traditional for the females to learn how to fight the Chief Medic had insisted as she was the best at herb recognition to send out on gathering missions. She had needed to be able to protect herself and so she had been placed under the tutelage of one of the more experienced spearmaster. He had taught her to be agile and sharp both on land and in the water. The once demure girl Flynn had once known had been replaced by a fighter. Though she hadn’t shown much of that yet as he had always taken the protective role thus far in their wanderings. Also, that he had kept many predators and attackers away if there had been any.
She determined he was probably ravenously hungry by now and she stood up to stretch. She was up for a good fish hunt. She bent down at the waist so her face was level with his. “Let’s go find you some fish, I am sure there are waters nearby that the Malgyorgs will leave be if you are there. Also, once you get your energy back I would like you to do a favor for me and be my sparring partner. I haven’t had a decent fight and my spear is getting bored.” She laughed softly at the thought of personifying her weapon.

Am I part of them? Are they part of me? |
Flynn's head was still scanning the sea as she spoke about the Malgyorg and their ferocity and for just a moment, he closed his eyes and his shoulders bounced in silent laughter. He remembered his first week after turning. He was clueless how to hunt in his new body, and it had been those exact sharks to teach him how to rip, shred, leap the water in his new form and many other tricks. Looking to Lelana, his smile grew into a large grin at the offer of finding some fish. Hell yes. "There're just them two out there right now, so you should be relatively safe in the shallows, looks like they're headin' back out to the reef."
And they were, they were swimming a bit further away, making the water more than safe enough for Lelana to enter, especially if he was with her, giving her that accompanying monster scent. "N' yea! I'd love ta spar with ya! Just... not submerged in the water." He may get too aggressive from annoyance mid fight. He lacked a great deal of his old speed from his former self in the water and Lelana was about to witness it first hand with what they were about to do. Standing up, he held out a hand to help her up as his eyes turned back out to the salt water.
After giving her the support to get up, he'd hop off the rock with a small bounce and step out to the water once again, standing about knee deep, reaching down to grap some water and wet his face. More than ready to hit the cold water once again, he bent his knees and held stock still. This was always a pain in the ass, but if things went well, he always came out with some sort of food in his stomach.

Taking his hand, he offered in support she jumped lightly down into the sand. Oh, that was such a wonderful feeling, digging her feet in the sand was a new and unusual experience and comparison to the earth by the rivers and lakes of the domain.
She grabbed her spear and the burlap sack she had acquired for collecting in times like this. He was always hungry and she would rather be prepared to catch more than one or two.
She waded into through the shallows to a small out cropping of rocks nearby to him. She would have a better vantage point from here and she held her spear at the ready. When a large porgy swam between her rocks she sharply stabbed her spear into it catching it swiftly before putting it into her sack.
She was quiet, focused and severe in her task and after catching four the fish died out around her rocks realizing it was not the haven they had hoped for. She sat down on her rocks watching him silently as he hunted.

Am I part of them? Are they part of me? TAG. LelanaTHEME. xxxNOTES. fuck yes. Strong boy |
Flynn held so still, the only disturbance in the water was the natural ones. He looked like a grey-blue statue standing in the water, peering into it. It took a while, but finally, like an alligator, he snapped forward and straight underwater. He was down there for a moment before he stood up, one large porgy in hand and another, just as large porgy in his mouth, his teeth digging into it and it's flailing coming to a halt.
Biting the other one to finish it, he shoved that one into his own bag and walked over to another spot, slowly. He repeated this a few times until he had six fish tucked into the bag. Stepping out of the shallows, giving Lelana a huge, stupid grin and walking over to where he had set up camp here numerous times, he looked around at the scorched spot on the ground, as well as the skewers left laying about. He used to cover up his trail, but the warriors thought he was dead, so, he had nothing to hide from unless someone else had started hunting him.
Grabbing some dried palm leaves and tinder, he worked on getting a fire going, sitting back from the tinder to make sure he didn't drip too much water on them. Practice makes performance though. It didn't take him long to get a fire going. He didn't want to just up and eat any of the fish raw in front of Lelana, he was scared of eventually scaring the shit out of her. If Lelana followed him, he'd watch her carefully for a moment as he skewered the fish whole, holding it over the fire.
There were a lot of things he wanted to say, but he was obviously scared to say them. Some part of him was just "do it! There's no shame in it!" while the other side of him simply remained frightened about scaring her. It was stupid, he laughed a little at his own predicament before taking a deep breath. He'd just have to remember to chill out, things will fall into place.
