◣◆◢ @bounty | Niul had come across a rather odd quest in the last stop he had been in. The oddity was caused by the request's vagueness, with the paper not mentioning any details about the stolen book that one was supposed to retrieve, no info on the thieves nor even what ones rewards was going to be for doing the job.
It was quite plausible that exactly because of this vagueness the job hadn't been taken in an instant, like so many other job requests tend to be taken, as the job life of an adventurer was very 'first-come, first-served'. And really, Niul couldn't blame for the other adventurers not taking the request. Taking it would be an unnecessary risk, especially since the vagueness was made worse by the fact that the assumed location of the book thieves was Akkala Citadel, a home for many powerful monsters.
Still, here Niul was, in the middle of the night looking at the tall, giant of a tower from the shadows. He had felt kind of sorry for the requester, as the book seemed to be of quite importance, for them to have made a request instead of acquiring a new one. He just felt obligated to help, as nobody else seemed to have any interest in tackling the job. Plus, the vagueness and the mystery of the book and the thieves just left Niul curious.
He had traveled across the Akkala Field by avoiding any and all threats. He was confident he could take on the beasts of the area, but taking them on would be a pointless waste of time, and if the battle would get intense enough, the ruckus could attract the attention of other monsters or even cause the book thieves in the tower to notice him.
Remaining motionless in the shadows, about a hundred meters to the south of the Citadel, the Hylian man didn't act yet, but instead opted to observe for now. He'd stay in his position and wait for any possible signs of who the book thieves could be, with a possible lookout or so being outside, but if he wouldn't see anything in 30 minutes, he'd just have to get in there. |

Akkala Citadel? More like Monster Citadel. For over almost 200 years, monsters have nested in this place, turning it into a vile, disgusting epicenter for their evil little activities. The monsters here have set up camp all over the place, including on the end of the bridge to get into the place. All the way up and down the spiral staircase, black bokoblin can be seen pacing the stairs, babbling aimlessly to themselves as the occasional black Moblin walks down the stairway and gives them a disapproving look. Like he's about to throw it off the edge of the citadel...
The book that you're here for, the reward better be worth it, right?
Luckily, your element may give you some sort of advantage over some of Ganon's monsters here. But most of them seem to be natural. We'll just have to see, won't we? The monsters haven't seen you yet, but there are definitely look outs. You can charge in recklessly, try to pick the lookouts off quietly, turn around and leave, or try to sneak around the lookouts the best you can, but the bridge itself doesn't even look like it'll hold a bokoblin with how crumbled its sides are.
oh mah goooooooooood. If I could NOT fuck up an important thing in the shop like that 1. You will always have a way out. I will send in some Sheikah that were doing some research if I have to. 2. If you survive this and get the reward, your reward will not be nerfed since you're a new char. I don't nerf rewards, don't worry about that if it was a concern. 3. I will ALWAYS provide the sneaking option when undetected, but sneaking will be rolled with a d-20 like normal @niul

◣◆◢ | Observing the area, and besides the monsters that he had been seeing ever since he arrived to the Akkala area, but nothing that really stood out. Could it really be that some monsters had stolen the book? Still, the sight was quite the threatening one, and even Niul had to admit that he wouldn't want to be spotted and fight all the Moblin and Bokoblins there, so he decided that if the monsters were to be alerted of the adventurer's presence, it'd be better to just run away straight away.
Using a bit more time for observing the area, the Hylian man spent a good while, his eyes locked onto the lookouts, making sure to get a good idea of their pace, field of vision and movement patterns. About 20 minutes were spent for this. One couldn't be too careful when it came to monsters, after all. And not like Niul was in such a hurry to do a half assed job in observation.
Once deeming himself to be ready to set out, the adventurer began moving, keeping himself low and in the shadows, slowly approaching the Bokoblin on the lookout closest to his starting location. Niul's plan was to eliminate any of the lookouts that were by themselves, while approaching the Citadel's bridge. How to get through it without being spotted by the camp at the other side of it was something he would have to try to figure out once there, as now the adventurer was solely concentrated on getting to it unnoticed.
Getting closer and closer to the first lookout, Niul began going more and more carefully, doing his best to conceal his presence. While taking his as-silent-as-can-be steps, he slowly pulled out a combat knife from the sheath that was hanging off of his belt, as if a predator readying its fangs to sink into its prey. |

Babbling noises grew louder as you approached the look out and for a moment, they stopped.... then continued after one of the lookouts started a yawning chain. They were obviously tired, and hell, the monsters at the camp had drifted off into an unwarranted nap. Huh. Well, either way it goes, all of the monsters were asleep, but they were still of the black variety. Thicker skin, heavier clothes hung around their waist and their muscles were obviously bigger than the other varieties. A sneak strike though does an amazing amount of damage.
Just be careful.
Here's your buffs, since I messed up and your char is a Hylian at that, one of the smallest races. All areas +5 So far, nothing has noticed you. 1d20+5 15+5 = 20 There's your stealth roll. Monsters fell asleep at the end of it to make it a perfect stealth. @niul

◣◆◢ | Niul continued approaching the black Bokoblin, doing his best to remain as silent with his movements as possible, eyes locked onto his target. Noticing the Bokoblin yawn brough a grin to his face, and made him for a short moment look into the direction of the other monsters, seeing them too show signs of falling asleep. If they'd all just stay asleep, then it would make things a lot easier for the adventurer and at this thought, a grin appeared on the Hylian man's face.
Finally, having used more than enough time to carefully approach his target, Niul was only few meters away from the Bokoblin, which had moments ago dozed off, blissfully unaware of the adventurer's presence. Though he wouldn't immediately try to go for the kill, but instead would wait for a short moment, to wait for the opportune moment, when no possibly still awake monsters would be able to see him act.
Once deeming himself to be in the clear, Niul took quick and short steps, leaving the safety of the shadows in a fluid motion. In only a second he covered the distance between him, and the sleeping Bokoblin, and with no hesitation took a hold of the black monster from behind with his left hand, covering its mouth and pulling it to him, with his right hand and the knife it was holding swiftly cutting through the air, slitting the creatures throat. Swift and silent, the deed took barely a second and the monster was dead, going limp in the adventurer's hands.
Turning his gaze from the dead monster, Niul instinctively checked whether or not he had been spotted unluckily, or if he was still in the clear, as he began dragging the corpse with him back into the shadows where he came from. |

Struggle was futile as the Bokoblin attempted to get away from the knife, only to find itself dead. The larger, black creatures at a camp not too far away stirred none, but the other lookout was beginning to wake up, the smell of blood thick on the air. True to it's monster nature, the other lookout wanted in on whatever was bleeding. It was either fresh food, or a comrade.
Sadly for the adventurer, it eventually recognized the scent as a comrade once it had snapped out of it's half-asleep stupor. Angry, it stomped it's feet a few times as you pulled the corpse of his companion into the brush. Angry, the creature began to fumble for wherever it had dropped it's weapon in the dark.
Unable to find anything suitable for combat, it picked up a rock to throw at you while it bought itself some time, babbling while it dug through the dirt until it finally pulled an old, Royal sword from the ground, obviously collected from the military storage inside of the citadel.
Off in the distance, across the gusty bridge, the monsters at the camp moved a little at the infuriated babbling, but in all, continued to sleep. Too far away to pick up what their companion was running on about. Sleeping easily through the rumble of thunder in the distance.
Success, ya killed a Bokoblin The other threw a rock and pulled a healthy sword The weather in Akkala is being typical, a storm is rolling in from the seas. Total: 1 Black Bokoblin @niul

◣◆◢ | Clicking his tongue, as he saw the Bokoblin wake up, presumably from the smell of blood. Not only that, but the monster noticed the adventurer drag its fellow specimen's corpse. The Bokoblin began hurriedly look around, most likely searching for a weapon and once Niul laid down the monster corpse into the shadows, a rock was tossed by the creature.
Niul in a lax manner dodged the rock, not really worried about it doing damage to him. As the tossed object hit the ground, and clacked around, the Hylian man began considering his options. He had been spotted, but the Bokoblin didn't seem to be considering right now to warn its companions, be it either because of panic or just plain stupidity. Looking at the monster pull out a sword in a rather good condition, Niul finally made his decision and figured that he might as well keep pushing his luck, as the monsters in the distance hadn't been woken up. One Bokoblin wasn't going to make him flee.
Starting to make a silent dash towards the monster, the adventurer kept himself low and readied his bloody knife. Not just going in like that however, he pulled out another knife from his belt with his free hand, this one being smaller and with a swift motion, tossed it at the Bokoblin. |

The Bokoblin didn't bother trying to wake his friends because this Bokoblin could barely hear his self think over the sounds of panic. However, panic doesn't cause the body to weaken. The knife you threw did manage to harm the monster a bit, but it only assisted in making it angry. Frustrated, the monster began to circle your dash, swinging it's sword once it got close enough to you to try and do some harm.
Across the bridge, the monsters were still being stirred by the sounds of the ever growing cracks of thunder. The sounds of their friend babbling were still faint.
The storm that was rolling in grew in intensity rather fast. The hot summer air was sucked up like a vacuum does to dust by the oncoming cold front, lightning could occasionally be seen in the clouds, accompanying thunder following soon after. The drizzle stayed low, for now, but the wind picks up viciously, signalling the approach of the storm.
@niul Storm is right there. Total: 1 Black Bokoblin

◣◆◢ | The knife he had thrown seemed to be more effecting in angering the monster, rather than actually damaging it and the creature made a mad dash to circle around Niul. Instead of continuing his own dash, he made a quick stop and took on a defensive stance, prepared to take on the anger of the Bokoblin, keeping his eyes locked onto the creature.
The monster approached, and began swinging its blade around like a madman. Trying to block all of the slashes willy-nilly wasn't a good idea with a knife, because if one had enough strength behind to knock him off of his stance, it'd be real bad. So, Niul took the different option, and took on swift backsteps to avoid the slashes, waiting for the perfect opportunity to counter.
Once the Bokoblin finally made a vertical slash, bringing its sword down in a mighty swing, the adventurer took on this chance and used his free left arm, which was adorned completely in armor, unlike his right arm and the gauntlet arm clashed with the blade from the side. Keeping his arm connected with the sword in this short instant, Niul kept on pushing the blade to the side, redirecting the attack to the side.
The sword, with a loud clank clashed with the ground, leaving the Bokoblin open and Niul quickly stepped in closer the monster, giving the creature a couple of swift slashes, aiming both of its arms and before it could recover, the Hylian man quickly took steps back, making more distance between the two.
Keeping on making distance, Niul grabbed yet another throwing knife and tossed it at the monster.
With some distance now between the two, Niul noticed the incoming storm and gave a quickly glance to his equipment. As soon as his current foe would be out of the game, he would have to take off his armor to avoid some unfortunate accidents. Though if he'd act smart, he could use the weather to his advantage. |

Ragged boots crushed the ground with each step, time not allowing for any more mishaps or distractions to occur along the way. Yes, that sudden patch of vegetation was a remarkable note, and a mile away there was a slight change in hill elevation compared to a few years prior, so at least the old fool had an excuse. Or at least, Raghnall considered a change in information to be just as vital to the current dilemma. The journey back should be a fantastic way to utilize such promising adjustments to a smaller map. If, of course, he was able to see through all of this dreary nighttime stuff. Always got in the way of exploring and drawing out maps. So much wasted lamp oil trying to settle the man's work into the morning sun.
Low rumbles and quick flashes resonated in the night sky, his eye narrowing a moment to size up the situation. "Oooh we're gaunnae be feisty tonight, aren't we," the cartographer said, reaching towards his bag and readjusting his inventory. Metal was far from wise in the Akkala area, the storms far too chaotic to take even a single mishap. Elevated geography made the situation that much worse. In addition, no matter how well made these gifts were, his Goron made cestus would have to remain hidden underneath all of that clothing and other non-metallic grievances. His punching ability was going to be hindered a bit if he encountered a monster with equipment difficult for his bare fists to handle.
Torch lights emitted in the distance, right near the bridge. One end of Raghnall's jaw shifted at this dilemma. He knew there would be monsters, but having a personal torch was a benefit as well. It did not matter in the slightest, however, since the rain was going to downpour at any time. Before the oversized Hylian arrived near a dangerous position, he put out his torch and slid behind the larger vegetation and rocks dotting the area. Current goal was to reach the bridge and find a way around the encampment. His grin widened at the prospect of getting the jump on the villains who dared to steal a well made source of text. One bop to the head, then another, and another, and that smell of fresh violence emitting nearby was a treat.
The old bear shook his head and came back to reality. Bopping monsters in the face was going to be put on hold until he discovered the source of this foul odor. Fresh blood meant someone, or something, was prowling about this area. Not a good sign. A tidbit of information began to rush through Raghnall's mind. Something about another man having gone ahead to take care of this ordeal. He did not know this stranger, so that would have to be put on the back burner. Clangs of an isolated fight rushed to the man's ears, the cartographer's body crouched and taking a few steps towards another hiding spot. Movements in the shadows indicated a duel between too combatants.
He waited a moment for the fight to end, remaining in his own spot, "Ye friend or foe, lad? Not aboot to show meself noo to a stranger like this. Too auld." |
