You've been sent a message from someone warning you that you have little time left to bunker down. It's the news channel. Nuclear war has been waged. Your character gathers what they think is essential, and what they already haven't stocked in their fall out shelter and goes underground. Time passes on and on until your character decides that it's finally sort of safe to go above ground. Donning your gas mask, just in case, your character leaves the shelter. What are they feeling? What do they see? What do they do?
