Yara grew up on a small, remote banana farm on the outskirts of the Faron Grasslands to the east of the Gerudo desert. She was part of a family of Hylians that had chosen to leave the busy villages of central Hyrule and make a modest income off of their Mighty Banana enterprise. All went smoothly for a fair decade or so before the Yiga clan honed in on the industry for their own satisfaction and began to plague the small plantation. The Yiga thugs laid the operation to the bare bones and only kept her family alive to extort them by paying protection fees. This was to be paid in the form of regular shipments of banana's with the crops, rupees and their daughter, Yara who was 5 at the time, as a recruit when she became of age. Her parents agreed and the farm was able to barely rebuild itself. They could barely make decent production over the course of another decade and the business relationship between the Yiga and the Hylians strained greatly until one night it snapped. The Yiga's had come to claim their dues when Yara was 15 and her family readily gave her up to save their own lives before they fled to Kara Kara Bazaar.
Yara was not immediately inducted into the Yiga clan, even if they had offered she would have spat in their faces in defiance. She never laid foot in the Yiga hideout, instead they had shipped her off to another one of their more fruitful banana operations. Here she was put to work as an owned servant with no liberties or freedoms to call her own. She was not abused per say, but the continual reminder that she was discarded by her parents, she had been too young to remember the pact when she was five, and being ridden sun up to sun down doing to most laborious of tasks wore her fire down until her independence was snuffed out. Her overseers took joy in reminding her of her place and her worthlessness, how her own parents had found her a burden and sold her to the Yiga. She was reminded that she had no place to call home, no place to belong in this would, and not even the agency to make her own way. Her life was forfeit even is she was still breathing.
It wasn't until her 20th year when she was placed under the care of a different Yiga overseer that her options began to open up. Her new overseer was a woman, she hadn't seen many in the Yiga ranks on the farm, and instead of constantly berating and breaking Yara she began to groom her.. This woman's mentality wasn't entirely benevolent as her purpose was to recruit apt individuals to Lord Ganon's armies, but Yara did seem to present a spark, that should it be fed properly would be a great tool for the clan. Yara, was unaware of the women's double incentive and finally feeling like she belonged to someone who cared for her she hung onto her every word. Learning about the evils of The Princess and The Hero as they always thwarted and sealed the Dark Prince away from bringing an end to their tyrannical rule. When she wasn't in the fields tending to her farm tasks she was training with the Yiga woman in swordsmanship and some literacy study. Eventually Yara opened up to the woman about her abandonment from her parents, and the Yiga whose name was Su'ri, fed decent and anger in Yara to bloom into a hot flame. Yara grew to greatly desire vengeance against her family and Su'ri twisted the young girl to the Masters call.
One night Yara went to Su'ri with the zealous intent to pledge herself to the Yiga clan and its cause. This is what Su'ri wanted but she wanted Yara's induction to be more...solidifying. She refused Yara and the guise that she was not ready, that she held onto the hope of her parents love for her and until she let them go she would never be fit enough to be a servant to Lord Ganon. He deserved only unconditional loyalty from his servants and she was not enough.Enraged Yara headed to the Kara Kara Bazaar, having heard that was the last location her parents had been seen. She was intent in cutting off every tie she ever had with anyone that she had called family. Once she arrived in the night to the unsuspecting oasis she wrecked wanton death and destruction in a pure rage. She didn't care who she killed, all deserved death in her red vision. When he battle turned to a the worst facing down an adept Gerudo guard she took a substantial wound to her abdomen and she was bleeding out. She remembered faintly beseeching Ganon to grant her strength, reciting the pledge Su'ri had taught her in exchange for her soul. Before she slipped into unconsciousness she heard a great bellowing roar and a giant silver back gorilla smashed into the Gerudo guard tearing the woman apart. It defended her until all where dead or had fled. The last thing Yara could recall was Su'ri standing over her and the pain of burning flesh as her wound was cauterized.
Notes: What she doesn't know is her real parents are Sheika, and that she is Sheika heritage.
Also her "last" name means "one with no name" in Mongolian
