"Evil has begun to seed it's way back into the soil that we stand on." And there's not much that can be done to stop it. Even the scientists that study these anomalies have slinked to observe from the safety of their windows as the skies turn dark, and the world around them fades to red. Monsters and their rumored human counterparts known as the Yiga have become more aggressive and unpredictable in nature. The natural monsters, free from Ganon's influence take refuge tonight as their dark cousins storm the hill sides, claiming the land as their own as everyone cowers in fear from the now larger, angrier monsters. People have gone missing, and there's no clue as to who was doing it but people do know that the Sheikah's worst fears are starting to arise. Soldiers dressed in strange clothing, some seen in something ritualistic looking, others dressed like barbarians, most covered in red paint. In the end, all of them looking like something out of a painted horror story, have been dragging people away to... no one knows where. Dark, twisted animals follow them in their wake and for tonight? They've picked where they wish to prey on. Lurelin, a quiet, peaceful fishing town is now the target of a vicious assault. Monsters have began to break down doors and attack people in the city, completely disregarding the guards until they become a threat, in which, they were dispatched by the simple fact that they were unprepared. No one saw this attack coming, but one messenger did manage to escape and start calling for help, doing his best to avoid the monsters prowling in this mysterious night, fearfully watching as tendrils of shadow moved across the land like a dark wind blowing. Hear his call and band together, Lurelin is in need of saving. "Our Lord's power is not yet at it's true peak, how much longer must we wait?" - You can not die unless you repeatedly do something stupid with your char and push against warnings from admins. OR, you break the rules repeatedly and ignore the warnings the admins give you
- The monsters scale to the average skill level of attending warriors/healers/anybody. Just thought this should be clarified as this is the first combat event
- I will be participating, but since critical roles take priority here, it won't be as a good guy. I will control the monsters using this account, and everything will be DMd with an unbiased hand, flexing with the opinions, input and call outs of you and the other moderators. My character will not be active for potential combat until the monsters are dealt with.
- This IS a plot event. The outcome of this event will directly effect the state of lurelin and the morale of the Faron/Necluda region NPCs
- Please make sure you have your inventory established, and if you are a healer, please clarify somewhere on your post that you are, or PM me that you're a healer of any kind, so I don't end up doing something unnecessary down the line.
- you have 48 hours to join, and after that, whenever I make a DM post, you have 48 hours to post. There is no posting order, there can be exceptions put into place if you're going to miss a post, and I will not penalize your character for doing so.
- Before you make your first post, please make sure your inventory is settled. You can only be wearing one set of armor, no changing mid-combat. You may only bring 2 weapons. Multiples, such as throwing knives, are an exception, of course. Any items in your inventory will count as active here so you may use them at any time. ANY CHANGES TO INVENTORY MADE AFTER YOUR FIRST POST CAN NOT BE USED IN THE EVENT. Such as filling up a bottle. Had a function like that available on another site, it was too OP.

Lurelin, it appeared, was in some sort of trouble...
...and he, it appeared, was some sort of fool.
Sure, he'd been raised, by his parents' intent, to be the successor of a hero. A descendant of one, no less, or so his parents claimed, with none he knew speaking up against such a claim. Whether it was true or not, he supposed it was ultimately of little concern to him; what mattered was, he was no hero. He was just some runaway, totally lacking in confidence what he very arguably made up for in skill with the bow, and maneuverability. He was no hero, but that didn't mean he couldn't, or wouldn't, stand up and do something.
Most especially for the fact that he'd already been nearby when the red moon rose, when the messenger darted by.
Up into the air, the cardinal-like Rito quickly took, faintly recalling on the way, in the back of his head, how they'd always claimed him to have no aptitude for magic back home. That much, at least, he'd since discovered to be untrue... and to such an end could he produce a lightly glowing, pure white arrow seemingly from the air before firing straight downward, straight toward a monster trying to break its way into one of the small homes dotted through the village.
"Y-you should... stay inside... there should be more people on the way soon, I hope..." Lavi called out into the house when he promptly landed, not terribly far behind the light arrow itself. The light-based magic would draw some attention, he was sure of it... and frankly, he had nothing to truly back his claims. Yet, well... at least he did have a decent stock of arrows at his hip, he considered, gulping down no shortage of nerves as his eyes flitted around the now monster-infested coastal village.

Behind Lavi, a plain wooden arrow sang through the air, whizzing past the cardinal Rito's head and striking the ground in front of a Bokoblin charging forward. It let out a grunt of surprise as it looked up for the arrow's source. Above them, Irok had a bright grin of adrenaline on his face, and another arrow already notched, which he let fly as soon as he saw the Bokoblin's wild eyes.
He swooped down and landed near Lavi. "I always wondered where you went, hero boy. Heard you left the village. Hope you'll make yourself useful here." He flicked his eyes around the village, covered in monsters and bathed in red moonlight. He had to admit it made him uneasy, but he wouldn't tell anyone that. Especially not 'hero boy', who'd taken all of his attention, potential accolades, and training opportunities. It wasn't that he was a bad kid... He had just gotten in Irok's way in the past, which made him a nuisance. But, now was not the time to complain about fellow fighters.
He walked past him and plucked his two arrows off the ground, returning one to his quiver and the other to his hand to nock again. "Those light arrows were pretty cool, though. Got any more of those? Looks like we need them." The raven-like Rito pointed to another group of monsters swarming on a group of villagers rushing for their homes. He started jogging toward them, taking flight as soon as he had momentum. He always felt better attacking from the air - not to mention he appreciated all the advantages it gave in combat. Plot Event! // Ofc he has to make an entrance. Hope this works! LAIKA OF GS!

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: @irok Lavi✉ notes: we all gon' die both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Well this was a disaster. That was putting it lightly. The reality was more that this was what the flying fuck was this anyway? Monsters hadn't had the balls to launch an all out assault on any of the towns in over a century. So now there were monsters, they were pissed off, they seemed strong as hell, and they were out for blood. Speaking of blood, he looked up at the sky briefly. Really, that moon was beautiful beyond words and the sky it granted was a sight within itself. However, considering it seemed to show up only when monsters did this shit, he had a feeling he wasn't going to enjoy this very much.
First thing he'd done was get to the high ground. So far there'd yet to be anything in the sky, and he hoped it stayed that way. Really he hadn't seen it coming. He had been staying at an inn. Fortunately, he'd been relaxing up on the second floor, staring outside at the beautiful sky. So once shit hit the fan, he was able to slip out the window and onto the roof. He felt bad for those downstairs that he'd basically left to die, but the way he saw it, going downstairs would've been suicide and accomplished nothing. Something like this, they had to take certain hits that the rowdy heroes would rather not.
Putting that ballet to good use, he was able to (for the most part) quietly slip from rooftop to rooftop as he watched the action unfold. Positioning was key and he was one man against a horde. Well, three, with two Rito having shown up to try and save the day. But they were still three against a horde. In short, completely outnumbered against a horde of suicidal beasts. As he saw some monsters closing in on a group of villagers on the ground, he acted, extending his palm as a stream of fire shot out, scorching the earth between the two groups and setting it ablaze. It was one brief motion, not much energy expended, thankfully. He'd be needing it. Monsters were still monsters, and he hoped that a natural aversion to fire would cause enough hesitation, "Go on." for the villagers to run off as he gave them the order to flee.
Looking at the two Rito, he nodded. "You two should stay airborne for now." On the ground they were easy targets. He took a couple steps back to get closer to the center of the roof, keep a stray arrow from nailing him while he wasn't looking. "Focus on getting others out of here. Better that Lurelin burns than saving the buildings but no one survives." Needed to get priorities in order. Although... they were Rito... Alex looked at his hand.
"Either of you know wind magic?" It was stereotypical, but it was a question. "Please, you need to stay calm." Eolet tried to hold the focus of a panicked village girl. The two were huddled close to her grandfather's bed, the man too sick and frail to move on his own. "I need your help moving him, this home isn't going to be safe for much longer." Her mind reeled at how quickly the attack came. One moment she was outside drawing water for her patient, and the next the sky was red and angry and monsters came from all directions. Eolet ran back to her host's home as fast as she could. Her host family was panicked and that wasn't good. "Do you know of a safe place? Somewhere that's secure?" "Th-the cellar! Behind the house!" "Let's go. Quickly!" Together the, the two plus the girl's mother lifted the mattress the old man slept on and carried him through the house and out the back. Outside the animistic cries of monsters and screaming people pressed from all directions, but the three women were focused. Eolet flung open the wooden doors of the cellar and guided their group down. "Alright, stay here, I'll hide the entrance."
Before the two could protest Eolet returned outside and turned several large crates over the two doors. Now it looked like rubble and not the entrance to a small root cellar. Though Eolet worried for the two, she knew they would be safer this way and that there will be more people in help. She steeled herself with a deep breath and kept moving. If she stopped moving then she'll stop all together and that would just make her a hindrance. The young Gerudo kept the shadows, once pressing herself into a narrow corner to hide from a ranging band of monsters. The girl quickly moved on in search of people in need. Her dagger, normally kept in her bag, was now in hand should it be needed. Which may be soon as it seemed everywhere she looked there was blood and violence. Would any of them survive the night? The thought had her heart leaping into her throat. No! A healer must not accept death so quickly, not when there is still hope. Still some chance that life will flow.
Over there! Several monsters advanced upon a group of villagers. Maybe she could distract them and allow the others to escape. As she moved, ready to shout for the monsters' attention fire erupted between the two groups and the aggressors shied back in fear. She ran towards the villagers, worried some may have been injured and unable to get away fast enough. All of them seemed to be mobile, so she let them go and refocused on finding those who need help. Eolet spied a blond man shouting instructions to a pair of Rito and she heard him ask if they knew wind magic? Was he in charge of the town's defense? She didn't know but he was trying to help and she can't get through this on her own. Eolet ran over to him, "wait! Is there anything I can do to help? What do I need to do?"
ooc note - is a healer, ready to heal.

Draw them into bottle necks. Be quick, but more importantly be sure before you strike. Let the space work to your advantage; don’t overshoot the mark, lest every strike of stone or bark wear you out in kind. Ashei knew the uses of trees when it came to a fight, and when it came to fleeing. The former was easier in a civilised area, but the latter proved more difficult as more people got involved; and there were far too many people involved in this.
Too many villagers scattering haphazardly, too many monsters swarming; the buildings choked both their movements alike. Did it make it easier to defend them, or harder? The day would bear out an answer, one way or another. So far her uses had mostly been as a harrier and distraction; even the briefest hesitation of an advancing force gave time for someone to run that little bit further, after all. Every brief exchange on a corner or an alleyway would wear down at least one group, if no one fell during the fighting.
Travelling had made her enduring, if nothing else, in the overwhelming task she’d taken upon herself today. Would it be enough? She hoped so. She’d miss the drinks otherwise. As would at least four others, if they ever planned on joining the fight on the ground rather then by sky or rooftop. She might have been one of the least prepared to defend a village, if this was any indication. She’d need to get a new bow and quiver if this was to be the new norm.
She shook herself out of the thought; there was hardly the time for it now, and even thinking of such things now seemed presumptive of her. She went back to work. Oak and iron, guard me well…

The house that Lavi had called out to had been a good first choice as a gerudo mother and her child quickly ducked back into their home, thanking the archer, as the bokoblin turned towards them with it's eyes threatening them in a blood moon fueled rampage, only to be shot dead by another arrow from nowhere. That was just one of many bokoblin down, the filthy creatures were just crawling all over the place as the dark omen in the sky only seemed to grow more intense as it rose higher into the sky. Monster after monster let out furious cries as a darker power seemed to posses them, becoming more bestial in posture, especially when they were on the hunt. Speaking of on the hunt, as the valiant heroes were successful in saving others, they were also successful on drawing the monster's attention onto them for the time being. Two sword wielding bokoblin and an archer, quite a ways off, began an attack on the heroes. They seemed a tad quicker than usual, as well as a bit stronger but they were definitely mad. Shaking with excitement, they babbled almost psychotically as they started towards Alex, Irok and Lavi where they stood, creeping towards them, drooling with an insatiable hunger glinting in their eyes. The archer seemed focused on the light wielding bird more than anything, and began letting his arrows loose towards Irok. Meanwhile, there had been a taller monster watching from the distance. Much more intelligent than his shorter counterparts, the club wielding moblin charged out of his cover to cut off this separated human, his red, enraged sights locked onto Eolet as the woman ran to the other humans. She was helping the flesh bags more than the others, he had saw. The moblin didn't want that, he wanted everything to burn, and she was hindering it! One of the humans that had entered the village hadn't communicated with the others, and several pairs of eyes had locked onto this as the attack continued. Jumping off of his most recent kill, the Lizalfos had camouflaged his self with the underside of one of the village porches. Ashei definitely had her work cut out for her as the Lizalfos used her own tactic against her. Fighting from the alley ways may have been a good idea on any other day. But tonight was the return of a phenomena long thought dead, and long dreaded should it ever return. The dark winds, still visible, continued to blow much harder through the alley ways as the agile monster jumped in front of Ashei, sword lashing out at her, his tail curling with his smile, both seemingly rabid as they twitched and... cackled? The lizalfos's grip on his shield tightened as his head twitched, eyes locked onto the human as he watched her movements. The terror filled screams of the other villagers in need of saving continued to fill the air.
- Lavi @irok Alexander Elessar @eolet @ashei
- Monster Total: 3 red bokoblin (2 swords and 1 bow Aggro'd) / 1 red moblin (aggro'd on your healer. Obviously trying to disrupt grouping.) / 1 Lizalfos (Sword + Shield aggro'd onto Ashei)
- Total Monsters Fell:1 red bokoblin
- Remember monster spawns are done accordingly to current party set so these guys are spread out across the village. Monsters can enter and leave the battle just as people can!
- Irok: That mother and child will remember that.
- Eolet: That family will remember that.

Ah... great. Of all things, there was another Rito... one apparently familiar with him, no less. Well, not that that was difficult, if they'd lived at all in the Rito Village up to around a year ago. Which, Lavi noted, was quite certainly the case... the more raven-like Rito seemed faintly familiar, though with how little interaction he himself had had with anyone in the village, it was difficult to say. 'Hero boy', though... grumbling slightly, he wanted to exclaim that he'd never asked for any of it, but... now wasn't the time.
"A-a few..." he replied on the question of his light arrows, though he was still soon drawing a normal arrow from a small stash he had, fortunately, managed to bring along. They wouldn't last him forever, but well... he didn't necessarily need them to. Drawing that for now, he blinked in surprise as he was called out -- well, as a Rito -- glancing in the general direction of the asker and shaking his head a little. "Erm... not me... maybe someone else...?" he hazarded, even as a Gerudo woman came along. 'Help', was it... they needed quite a bit of that, it seemed to him.
"Y-you can... ack!" the cardinal-like Rito started to speak, before an arrow rather rudely interrupted him. Thanking whatever luck he was apparently born under for all his training, he managed to dodge in time for it to just graze his shoulder; enough to sting, not enough to stop him. Not that all of him even wanted to keep going... but there were people that needed help, however difficult it was for him. "Th-the bow... the bow first, and maybe we can take the big one's knees..." he suggested, mostly for his fellow Rito, quickly taking flight again before another arrow could come and have likely more chance of hitting him than the last. If they wanted to fire arrows at him, then he'd fire two right back. That was, before maneuvering a little in the air for a bit of spare time to draw up another light arrow, taking a second to carefully aim near the large moblin's knee, just as he'd suggested, before letting it loose.
If that wouldn't be enough... well, he wasn't going to be surprised, but he couldn't do everything, now could he?

Scars have the strange power to remind us that our past is real.................... Eolet turned to see the charging moblin and cold fear griped her. Of any monster she held the most fear for the towering moblins. Panicked she turned and ran, her path taking her closer to Ashei. She could never take that thing on with just her little dagger! Think. Think! It's bigger than her, stronger than her, had an actual weapon. Eolet scanned her surroundings. Could she hide? No, her instincts told her not to. Suddenly, her gaze locked upon an abandoned cooking fire beside a house. A metal pan filled with over-cooked food and oil lay atop its cooking stand. Without a second thought Eolet ran and grasped the hot handle.
With all her might she hefted pan and flung the hot cooking oil at the moblin. She tried to aim for as close to its face as she could. Then, without waiting to see the effect of her attack and continued to run and ducked into an alley. Eolet's heart raced and she struggled to get the frantic beat under control. Her fight, however, was not over yet. Down the alley a Lizalfos was poised to attack another person. Eolet grabbed a rock from the ground and hurled it at the big lizard thing. "Hey! Over here!" If she could just get its attention away from the other person.
Her grip tightened around her dagger. Aim for the stomach, the throat, you know which injuries will hurt the most. Eolet readied to run again. She wanted to turn and glance behind her back but was fearful that if she took her eyes of the monster before her it would attack.
Each new scream in the night sent a shiver up her spine. Pushed Eolet closer to the limit of her resolve. Never had she fought against such terror.

Well, even if he was lacking in confidence, at least the kid wasn't totally incompetent on the battlefield. For the time being, that was all Irok was really concerned about. And it wasn't as though it even mattered - it was more so the principle of the thing. This wimpy little featherbutt got all of the luck, and had done nothing to really earn it. Irok had fought for everything he had, and he wasn't about to stop now.
His attention was abruptly brought back by an arrow flying between him and Lavi, grazing the cardinal Rito's shoulder as it passed by. This gave Irok a chance to dodge it, and at his suggestion, he gave a curt nod before giving a massive downsweep of his wings to give himself a little more air. He maneuvered into line of sight with the archer, and pulled back his bow, aiming quickly before he would drop out of the air. He launched two arrows in quick succession aimed for the archer's head and chest, before taking flight again so he could reposition.
He laughed as he thrust himself up with another couple of downstrokes, letting himself fall in a circle as he looked for an opening on the big moblin. He could see Lavi making his light arrows and launching it toward its knee, and Irok pulled an arrow, ready to react when the moblin did to the light arrow. "Keep firing and keep the bastard confused." He called to Lavi as he swooped past, eyes keen over as many areas as he could keep in sight.
The screams were filling the night air, and Irok knew they couldn't stay here forever. They'd have to go help others. And monsters would continue coming in... But they couldn't just let them walk away now, could they? Plot Event!
