Goron

Post by Daruhan on Jan 11, 2018 18:25:23 GMT -8
Daruhan readies himself. He know’s they’ll send the runt first to test their strength before attacking in force. Ah, he thought, here it comes. Easily the smallest of the wolves he’d seen comes charging right at him, although reluctantly at first, he sees a larger wolf nipping at the weaker wolf to get them motivated. Well, we’d better not disappoint them. Daruhan swings his left arm wide and catches the beast as it leaps for his throat. The wolf goes flying back into the underbrush. With an almost unanimous howl from the other wolves they begin their attack in earnest, one at a time simply wouldn’t do here.
Four, no five wolves now, all at once jump from the underbrush and rush Daruhan. He manages to catch one of them and swing it into another, but the other three find their mark on him. He was strong and tough, but speed was not his game. Fortunately, one of them decided his back was a good place to attack and another tried to jump on his middle to push him over, those were sound pack tactics for any other game, but not so here. The final wolf however chomped at his feet and got a pretty good bite in before catching the back side of a rocky smack.
Damn, that bite hurt, and while he didn’t fall those claws left their mark as well, red rivulets started making their way down the goron’s chest and leg, he would need to see to those lest they become infected later.

One wolf, then more, soon fell to the brute strength of the larger Goron; deceased and crippled in some cases, but the others very much still standing. That doesn't mean it didn't glance at the goron every now and then, but for now, it stayed behind the pack of wolves, seeming to debate on which way to run and see if it can't get a flank in. A popular trick for this species. The Wolfos, however, much as it had been looking on to the wolf pack under it aiming to bring the large Goron down, was none too pleased with having to move enough to avoid an arrow doing more than grazing its cheek. But with the Goron otherwise occupied, it was offered the perfect angle to let out a brief, threatening howl before moving, off to the side then back, pouncing along the Hylian boy to grant him a cut in turn. And still it bore down on him afterward, a fierce growl rumbling through it as it stepped carefully forward, watching for any next movements.
- 6 Wolves (one badly injured; two more deceased)
1 Quad Wolfos (Forest) (minor cut, targeting Sebastian) Daruhan (minor injuries from the wolves, still in good health otherwise) @sebastian (minor cut to the side, currently flanked by the Wolfos)

Sebastian's eyes widened as he watched the Goron take down wolf after wolf, the wolf's fragile frames giving way underneath the crushing blows of the Goron. 'Amazing!' he hoped he'd be able to fight like that some day. Well, not exactly like that, he was no Goron, after all. The farm-boy loosed the arrow, frowning when it merely grazed the Wolfos' cheek. Damn! He'd known it was an unlikely that he would take down the Wolfos, but he had hoped it would do more than nick it. He stumbled back as the Wolfos scratched his side, thankfully only doing minor damage. It could have been very bad, but thankfully the Wolfos didn't do much damage. The boy side-stepped, drawing his sword and lunging forward, hoping to slash the blade across its face, aiming for its eyes. Daruhan

Things were not going entirely how Daruhan had envisioned them going. The wolves were still attacking in great force. From what he had heard they would flee if things didn’t seem to be going their way in combat. But he supposed they still had the upper hand in numbers and having their alpha still around was bolstering their morale no doubt. Also, the wolfos had closed the gap between itself and the boy much faster than he’d thought. The lad would be in trouble if he didn’t get some help quick.
Seeing their chance, the remaining wolves rush towards the two of them from the trees. Darhan grabs the wolf on his back and throws it at one of the wolves rushing Sebastian’s flank. He then grabs the already injured wolf and throws it towards another aiming for his hylian charge. “You leave him out of this, pups, you need to worry about me.”
The other two wolves make it to Daruhan and begin to bite and claw at him, trying to trip him. Again, Daruhan proved to be to heavy for them to topple, but their claws and teeth were certainly leaving their mark upon his hide, goron or not. There certainly was a strength in number. He hoped he was successful in making sure his partner didn’t have to worry about anything but the wolfos right now.

While it was true, the wolves would normally retreat... with their 'alpha' in command, it was not so much of an option. Still, if not retreat, their aggression seemed to be dulling; clearly, their attacks against the Goron were having some effect, but not as much as might have been desired. The Wolfos itself, on the other hand, had not mised the fact that the Goron's attention was starting to turn toward it... nor, indeed, that the Hylian was the weaker of the two. Just as well, it didn't seem to pay a large amount of mind to the sword, merely pushing forward and letting it slice a little against the top of its head as it moved to rush the Hylian boy down directly.

The Hylian grimaced as it seemed to pay little mind to the bite of his blade, struggling to deal any actual damage. This wasn't working, and he needed a new plan. The Wolfos was clearly the stronger, and had more weapons than he did.
His eyes widened as it began to rush towards him, and he held his breath. This was just like dealing with the rampaging bulls back home, so timing was critical.
The farm boy waited until the Wolfos was just out of reach, before throwing himself to the side and rolling out of the way. He came up kneeling, and slashed his blade towards the Wolfos' legs, hoping to cripple it.

The wolves seemed to be running out of stamina for this fight, which was good, Daruhan was starting to get bored of throwing them around. They lacked the challenge that got the fire in his heart roaring.
Letting out another mighty bellow at the demoralized wolves he takes a stomping step forward, trying to startle the wolves, reaching down and kicking dirt up at them. Daruhan enjoyed a good fight, but these wolves weren’t giving it… but that didn’t mean they had to die for it. They were natural animals doing what predators do. It was starting to get difficult to ignore that wolfos though. But, his new friend, Sebastian really wanted to fight one, and was doing a passably decent job. It sounded like the wolfos was starting to give some back though, which was good. Things are just better if you work for them.
As he is kicking up dirt, if a wolf decides to attack him he will hit it away, his goal right now is to keep them away from Sebastian as he fights the wolfos. "Give it your all brother! I'll keep these guys off of you as best i can. Show that wolfos who's boss" he says, trying to encourage him.

Indeed, the wolves -- those that remained, uninjured -- were getting more and more hesitant, in spite of the injuries they had managed to create. They were not, however, leaving; not yet, not while the Wolfos was still there. And for the Wolfos itself, it was none too pleased as the blade slashed through a bit of the tough hide on its leg, though it still landed and was using the limb just fine. Wary of the blade -- if only a little -- it snapped its teeth aggressively at the Hylian boy before suddenly lunging forward, striking its claws toward Sebastian's leg.

The Hylian's pointed ear twitched at the sound of the Goron's gravelly voice, nodding to show he heard him. From what he could tell, Daruhan was having a relatively good time of it, with little trouble. Wolves didn't often put up much of a fight, so he'd found, especially when raiding a cuccoo coop. He'd expected them to put up a bit more of a fight, but he supposed the Wolfos was making up for it. Besides, not many animals would be a challenge to a Goron.
The Hylian scowled at his blade didn't do much damage, only barely nicking the Wolfos' hide, not crippling it like he had planned. He leaped back, managing to pull his leg back in time so that he was only scratched, the wound not terrible.
Sebastian danced back, scowling, tilting his head as he tried to figure out the Wolfos. Maybe?
Suddenly, hoping to catch the Wolfos off guard, the Hylian, whom had been still, suddenly raced forward. He feinted to the left, before darting, attempting to get behind it. If he succeeded, he'd launch a flurry of attacks at the back of the Wolfos knees. If not, he'd leaped back, before lunging in low, aiming for its legs.

The goron turned his head around, smiling as he watched the lad fighting the wolfos. He was doing a fairly good job. Daruhan was impressed with his progress. Things could turn at any moment though, although he hoped they wouldn’t, but he’d be ready all the same if they did.
He maintained his strategy of trying to keep the wolves at bay by flinging dirt at them. If any of them tried to make a break for it towards Sebastian they would be met with an angry fist, again just because they followed their alpha doesn’t mean they are deserving of death, but if they tried to hurt his friend he would not be held back.
