Time to spread my wings Zeke twirled an arrow lazily in his hand, laying back across a long, flat stone, soaking up the warmth of the day through his bare back. Looking to the target with a few arrows sticking out of it, he drew his bow and fired another arrow into the target, listening to the satisfying thud, giving a lazy grin towards the target before letting his head roll back to a neutral position, eyes closed.
He wasn't too far out from Hyrule Village, in fact, it was quiet enough that you could hear the chatter of people in the distance. If Zeke actually bothered to sit up as well, he could even see the crumbling walls that surrounded the town. It was kind of odd, really. The town was a beacon of new hope, but at the same time, it was a grim reminder of the tale of Calamity Ganon. Almost over 200 years ago, Calamity Ganon had nearly destroyed Hyrule, and 100 years ago? He almost got away with it, until their hero came back to the people and struck him down.
It was a great story, and it was well lived through books, word of mouth and illustrations. It was actually one of his favorite stories, and he was more than excited to tell it to the occasional kid that may be with their parents at the inn. He was raised by Rito. Famed archers and musicians came from that village and hell, Zeke could sing the song they had written for the hero to tell the entire story.
Snapping back to reality, Zeke sat up with a groan and moved to his target, collecting the arrows from it, checking the tips for damage. They were all good for another round of shooting.

◣◆◢ | Niul was walking along the road in the fields of Central Hyrule, his destination being Hyrule Village. The adventurer needed to visit the trading central of all Hyrule to get his payment for the sack full of monster parts he had acquired for the bounty he took up on his last visit, stock up on some necessities, get his gear checked, as the secret to long lasting armor and weapons was constant maintenance and get a new job. Of course he had some plans to meet some familiar places in the village as well, treat himself with some drinks and food for a job well done and maybe even get some company to keep him warm for the night, as nights as an adventurer can be oh-so-cold.
Getting close to Hyrule Village to the point that the Hylian man could even hear the hustle and bustle of the trading center from a distance, thanks to the quiet fields, with only the occasion gentle wind and rustling grass making noise.
As the adventurer kept on walking, he noticed a man in the fields, whom was wielding a bow and apparently was practicing his shooting, judging from the target set some distance away from him. Niul got a confirmation to his guess, as the dark-skinned man readied his weapon and the arrow soon after traveled across the air, making a satisfying sound as it hit the target.
Looking at the bow wielder for a bit more, for no real reason, the adventurer began approaching. Waving his free hand a bit, to let the man know he was approaching, once Niul was close enough to the dark-skinned male he offered a friendly smile. "Interesting place to be training at. Do you like your privacy?" He asked with no reservation, as Niul observed the man in front of him. The dark skin reminded him a bit of the Gerudo, though the bow wielder was of lighter tone and his hair and eye color didn't match. Because of the white hair and amber eyes, it was hard to guess whether the person in front of him was half-Sheikah or half-Hylian. What was obvious however to Niul was the fact that the bow in the hands of the Gerudo halfling was Rito craftsmanship. "The name's Niul, by the way. Niul Irving," the adventurer quickly added, still keeping his friendly smile and offered a hand to the bow wielder. |

Time to spread my wings Zeke turned his head to look over at the voice that seemed to ring out from nowhere. He had zoned out again, this time though, holding an arrow and just staring at it like some sort of idiot. With a long, drawn out yawn that he almost failed to cover with his arm, he gave the other man a slow nod. "Aw yea I do." He strained out, stretching his arms over his head as he moved back over to the rock, flopping down on it.
"Zephyr here packs a mighty punch. Can't have any arrows that go through the target hitting anyone." He explained shortly, grabbing the hand that was offered to him, giving it a firm shake before dropping his hand lazily, back to his side. "Names Ezekiel Griswold. Jus' call me Zeke though." He requested, shrugging one shoulder in a casual indifference to his own preference. He honestly didn't like being called 'Ezekiel', since that usually came as a pretty nice indicator that he was in some sort of trouble.
He blanked again and waved a hand towards Niul. At a loss of what to ask for a moment, he decided to go blunt. "What are you doin out here? Headin to the village?"

◣◆◢ | Amused by the fact that he could hear the bow wielder address his bow by a name, as if an actual name, as that wasn't something you came across often and was actually something Niul himself did also.
Getting a firm handshake from Zeke, as he introduced himself, the Hylian man couldn't help but smirk, as the first image of the bow wielder he had gotten was that he was lacking in energy and a bit airheaded. The handshake however was a confirmation to Niul that there was more to his new acquaintance. "I'll keep that in mind, Zeke," he nodded to the dark-skinned man's want to be called just by the nickname, and the adventurer didn't see a reason to comply. Niul could understand the pain of not being happy with your name after all.
Noticing the sudden momentary blank expression on Zeke's face, the Hylian man stayed quiet, knowing well enough what the face meant. Most people weren't used to some guy suddenly approaching them, so they often seemed to not know what to say or what to do. Thankfully however the bow wielder didn't seem too bothered by the sudden company, and actually continued the conversation, asking about Niul's reasons for being in the area, and if he was headed to Hyrule Village. The adventurer grinned, liking the fact that he had found someone who doesn't act reserved. "Sure am," he answered with great energy, pulling the sack full of monster parts off of his shoulder and shaking it in front of Zeke. "I have to deliver these and get my payment for them. Figured that I might as well stock up on some things, say hello to some friends, spend a night on a warm bed and the usual things that you'd do when stopping by in a village," he continued, with no real signs of having problems of sharing his plans. It's not like they were something private or hard to figure out either way. Though remembering one thing he could add in, just between the guys, Niul leaned over, and whispered with a smirk. "And, of course I'll try to get some company for the night, as adventuring can get a bit lonely."
Chuckling to himself a bit, as he pulled himself back, the Hylian man's eyes wondered into the direction of Hyrule Village and in a second back to Zeke. "What about you? Just stopping by? You don't seem like you live in the village, after all." |

Time to spread my wings Zeke lifted his eyebrows and gave the other male an impressed nod. He was way too lazy to go out and really fight monsters when it came down to it. He was just lazy in general. Being raised by the best archers out there and becoming a great shot had a tendency to do that to you. That didn't mean he didn't put effort into caring for Zephyr and the accompanying arrows. They were his lifeline and a bow well taken care of is a reliable bow. "Hey, sounds like that'd add up as a pretty good night to me!"
He nudged Niul and gave him a huge grin. He was an absolute ladies man and sometimes, he had to rely on other methods to get enough money to actually get the privilege to sleep under a roof. And a lot of times? He was too lazy to do that as well. He's gotten so used to finding sturdy trees that he can prop his self into that his step parents would be awfully proud of him if they could see their flightless eagle napping out in a sturdy oak tree somewhere.
"Me? Uh... Yea, stoppin by is a word for it. I'm a vagabond." He said, keepin his ever positive grin. Once again, getting used to this lifestyle was all part of how he liked to fly. There was no point in complaining about it, that much was for. He let his gaze drift to Hyrule Village before furrowing his brows. "Actually. Taking a quick look at the bounty board wouldn't really hurt, I suppose."
@niul Imma take a bounty, actually lol.

◣◆◢ | Nodding to Zeke's words, Niul returned the grin with his own, feeling like he could understand the bow wielder quite well. The two had just met and all, but the adventurer genuinely felt like the two had more than a bit in common. A gut feeling of his, and in the past he has been a good enough at judging a person's character. Or at least he thought so.
Following Zeke's gaze to Hyrule Village, the Hylian man nodded once more. "You definitely should. There are quite a few bounties that can be relatively easy to handle while travelling, and some Rupees never hurts," he said, knowing from experience. He hadn't been travelling for over 12 years for nothing after all. Though to be fair, the importance of bounty for adventurers is something you learn pretty fast. "If you want to, why don't you come with me to the village? I can buy a drink or two to a new acquaintance, especially since I'm getting paid," the adventurer continued, point at the village with his hand, as he tossed the sack back onto his shoulder, smiling all the while. |

Time to spread my wings Zeke nodded in agreement to the other man's words on taking a bounty. It would be for the best, but when it came around to the offer, he shook his head no at the drop of a rock. If it was anything Zeke hated, it was putting his self in a position where he would end up owing somebody. The last thing he needed was someone as deceitful as he could be, waltzing in and doing something that would end up fucking him over in the future.
"Nah, no thanks. I'll come into town with ya, but don't worry about buyin me a drink or anything." He spoke casually, picking his bow up again to lay it across his lap, starting to inspect the strings for any signs of fraying. "I don't wanna take anything from ya. Hard work is hard." Deeming his bowstring to be in the condition is was preferred to be in, Zeke shoved his self to his feet with a lazy push off of the rock.
He didn't have a problem with going into town though, he had gotten enough shots in on the makeshift target and as much as he enjoyed shooting, he didn't want to slaughter his bow on practice alone. With a long stretch, he slung the bow into it's 'scabbard' that was attached to the quiver's belt on his waist and turned towards Niuls sort of .... half-assedly. "Is your client along the way to the bounty board?" He asked, rocking slowly on his feet.

◣◆◢ | Niul was a bit disappointed by Zeke's refusal to his offer, but the bow wielder surely had his own reasons for it, even if the adventurer couldn't really understand what it was. It was just a friendly offer after all, and nothing's better than free. But then again, you never could really be too careful with people you just met, so maybe not taking his offer was just a sign of Zeke being careful.
Waiting on the dark-skinned man, as he checked his bow's condition and put away into its holder, Niul just stood around, not doing anything.
Finally done, Zeke turned around... lazily(?) and asked about where the adventurer was supposed to meet his client. "Nope. I'm meeting them in the tavern," he answered, shaking his head a bit and gave a grin at the mention of the actual meeting location, tipping his hand over to his mouth, as if holding an ale pint. "The best location. Get to use my rupees straight away on the good stuff."
Starting to walk, the adventurer cued the bow wielder to come along, keeping his pace rather slow to wait on Zeke to catch up. Once he'd be next to him, the Hylian man would increase his pace and start chatting. "Your bow's Rito craftsmanship, right? How much did it cost you? Last time I checked, they were quite pricey." |

Time to spread my wings Yup, a lazy turn, not even bothering to turn the lower half of his body as his thumbs looped around his belt to help hold his hands loosely. He shrugged when he mentioned meeting him in the tavern and spread his hands in a kind of manner that portrayed that he was stumped. "Hopefully there'll be enough rumors floating around at the tavern about some actual local jobs I can look into. Iiiii don't want to fight monsters unless I have to." He admitted, shrugging his shoulders and following along.
It wasn't that he was afraid of them, you see, he was just incredibly lazy. Monsters were a pain, and required him to actually use the aim that was trained into him by his adoptive parents. The Hylian male actually looked defeated at the thought of having to aim down the narrow face of a Moblin running after him. Predicting the bouncing of their steps and if they may or may not step to the side. Then you gotta take the wind into account... just. Ugh.
Then he brought up his bow. He did have a good point, Zeke got lucky with his, but it was getting old. He had been shooting and working with the full sized bow for a while now. It was actually his first real bow. "Well, it's old, that much is for sure. Ah, it was my dad's bow, he passed it down to me." he motioned to the sky for a second and pointed in the general direction of Tabantha. "Ya see, I was actually raised in Rito Village."

◣◆◢ | "People always need help, so no need to worry," Niul chuckled as a response to Zeke's clear unwillingness to fight monsters if possible. The adventurer himself actually enjoyed combat, so job's involving monster hunting was all good for him, but not everyone felt like risking their lives like that or just simply get involved in combat for one reason or another. "There's bound to be jobs outside of hunting monsters. They can range from simple chores to material collecting or deliveries."
Hearing that Zeke was actually raised in the Rito Village, Niul showed genuine surprise. Most people of another race were simply travelers and not actual citizen of a place like Rito Village, though of course it wasn't unheard of. It was just much easier because of the environment to live in a place of your own race. That much he had learned in these twelve years. "Is that so? Gotta say, I'm impressed," Niul responded, rubbing his chin in a pondering manner. "Not only do you have the skin of a Gerudo, making you a half Sheikah or Hylian, but you also grew up in the Rito culture," he nodded to his own words. To be honest, he was even a bit jealous of such a rich origin. Having possibly been thought archery by the Rito sounded amazing too.
Thinking about it for a bit, another question was raised. Zeke did mention that the bow he had used to be his father's. So was his father just an extremely lucky archer or actually a Rito? Deciding not to think about it, but just to find about it, Niul spoke up once again. "Is the father you speak of a Rito? That would explain how you would've gotten a Rito bow. Then again, maybe your father was just an incredibly rich or lucky Hylian or Sheikah." |
