Goron
|
Post by Daruhan on Jan 24, 2018 18:20:15 GMT -8
So, this was it, The spring of power. It was certainly impressive with the concentric rings of stone to catch the waters and the statue of the Goddess Hylia situated in the middle. Waterfalls cascaded down around it at regular intervals. He had to admire the architecture for sure. The water seemed to glisten everywhere despite it being so overcast.
Once upon a time he was told it would take a great deal of strength and fortitude to reach this place, but thanks to the Sheikah clan’s guardian clean up campaign they’d done it was a breeze to get here. All it had taken was some climbing and wading through some shallow waters. He chuckled a bit to himself, although it would probably be a much more challenging venture for a hylian. Life on death mountain had certainly given gorons a distinct advantage in climbing.
He wasn’t here to be boastful however. It was actually quite the opposite. He had come to this spring to pray. Which, in itself, was strange, Daruhan wasn’t usually the pious or even particularly humble type of goron. He waded across the spring and dropped a couple of apples in front of the statue to the Goddess Hylia. He’d seen the hylians do it, so it couldn’t hurt right?
He waded back out into the middle of the spring and fell to his knees, which didn’t actually make him that much shorter, but it was what he’d seen the hylians do it, so he would try it. If there were supernatural beings in the sky that listened to what the people confined to the earthly realms had to say and grant them some means of dealing with it, he would do what he could to appease them. He sighed, here went nothing. He was kind of glad nobody was around to watch him if this didn’t work. Daruhan closed his eyes and moved his arms out in an open gesture to the sky.
“Hey, Hylia. This is Daruhan of the gorons. I wanted to talk to you about some things. I am really concerned about some of the things I have been seeing in the world lately. Monsters are starting to come back in force, villages are being almost wiped out by them. What’s more is the blood moon is starting to rise again. Such an ill omen signifies the return of Ganon, or so that’s what the elders and the people more learned in such things say.” He puts his hand behind his head sheepishly.
“Gosh this is really difficult for me to do, I’m not usually one to ask for help, let alone from somebody I’ve never really gotten to know or even met. But I need help. I don’t think I am strong enough to do all of this on my own. I am not strong enough to be the hero I’ve always fancied myself as. I know I can’t be because I am scared.” He lets out a soft laugh “Hell, I am terrified.” He sighs, “So I guess what Im saying is I need you to help direct me. Let me know what I must do to fix myself, to be the hero I know I must be. I came to this Spring of Power in particular not because that is what I what I am asking for, although if you’re feeling generous a little extra power would probably help, but because that is what I feel I embody the most. I don’t know if that is how this works or not though… I came here to ask for guidance because I feel like I am in over my head here. I don't know if anyone earthly would be able to help.”
After saying his prayer, he opens his eyes and looks up to the sky, it had started to rain. Rain washed over the great goron’s face as he watched and waited for some sort of reply.

You'd get a reply alright. As the rain typical of Akkala started to fall, the world seemed to still. Rabbits took refuge from an unknown source and deer took shelter far away from the shrine itself, but it'd be difficult to see with how the shrine was situated. Instead, you'd get a good view of four eyes peering at you, one on your left and another on your right. One pair green, the other red dots. The green eyes twitched and seemingly shook in place as whatever up there was almost laughing through it's growls, whatever that one was, it was psychotic. The red one on the other hand was still, eyes blinking only after a moment before it backed up, disappearing entirely. The green eyed monster could wait no longer though, and jumped down into the spring, landing in the water and dashing towards the Goron from his flank, claws out stretched and mouth open, the Wolfos took a dive, straight for the underbelly.
- Wolfos is attacking. The other monster is nowhere to be seen. Daruhan

Goron

Post by Daruhan on Jan 25, 2018 18:56:25 GMT -8
Confusion, followed swiftly by anger flowed through the goron. “You’d dare to try and shed blood in this sacred place!?” He bellowed, letting the wolfos get close before swinging at it in a sweeping motion with one of his fists. Teeth bared and blood boiling, Daruhan was ready for what this wolfos had to offer him. It wasn’t his first dance with such a beast.
He did find himself concerned with the other eyes he’d seen. What could it have been? What was the purpose of attacking him here? Why, assuming it had been watching, was it attacking now? Was it trying to test his strength?
He could think on such things later, he had a clearly psychotic wolfos to deal with. He might be in a moment of mental weakness, but his body was more than strong enough. “Show me what you can do, foul beast.” He says through gritted teeth.

The Wolfos had no hesitation in it's strikes or recoveries. While the thing my have been shaking and twitching, it was clearly in control of itself. The swing did knock the beast back, but it was more than capable of landing on it's feet before bolting back towards you, strafing left and and right, hops and ducks following it's unpredictable movements while it dashed around you, looking for an opening. It did anything but hold still, and had the agility of a Wolfos that might have lived a bit too long. Maybe that's why it was mad? Scars littered the beast's face, but something in it's eyes betrayed that it wasn't an alpha. Close, but it wasn't the leader of any pack. Folding his ears and opening his maw, the Wolfos dove low for a flank on your legs, at least one paw getting a grip around one ankle while it dove it's face into the water to search for the other one to try and chew on.
- On that day, the puppy learned it could fly Daruhan

This beast was a conundrum to Daruhan, it looked old and beaten, but had the agility that would put a cub to shame. It made no sense physically, yet here it was, dancing around him like he was standing still. To be fair though he was standing still, he was waiting for something in particular before he struck back. In between keeping track of where the wolfos was to him as it prowled, he kept a weather eye on the upper ledges least the other creature that was lurking about take him by surprise, also for anything he could potentially use as a weapon to increase his reach. That wolfos was definitely agile. He made a swing on the wolfos as it got to close again, but of course it jumped away just in time. Damn that thing was fast. He’d have to see if he could be fast too. He just needed the chance. Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait long. The beast circled around behind him and began to lunge. Daruhan took this opportunity to make a surprise of his own. Quickly tucking into a ball, he jumped, aiming to land soundly on the beast, if he failed he would roll and try to chase the beast, lets see what the monster would make of that. He felt a claw grab his foot, he hoped things would play out how he thought. Daxton

The Wolfos let out a sturdy bark before jumping away from the now flying rock. Plenty of practice living at the foot of Death Mountain on this side of Akkala taught the Wolfos all about how much falling rocks hurt. With a heavy growl, the Wolfos put itself back on all fours, hackles standing on end, eyes twitching once again and a shaky breath. It was watching the flying rock, now trying to figure out another angle to take this thing at. The Wolfos couldn't find one though and decided it was time for a little help. Throwing it's head back, the Wolfos let out a howl, a reply coming almost immediately after. The ominous reply echoed through the valley and not long after the echo ceased, the pair of red eyes pounced in, landing in the water with a heavy thud and hiss. The molten looking fur on the Quadruped Wolfos cooled rapidly, leaving a heavy, thick stone over it's body. It was rare to see any kind of quadruped out of their element, but this one, despite it's tough hide, was littered with wounds, puckered scars and missing fur. Whatever it was, it had been exiled from it's pack, obviously. While the Biped Wolfos drooled and shook it's head, the large Quad simply stared at Daruhan and waited, not moving a single muscle, looking just like the stones that covered it's body, unmoving.
- Normally wouldn't spawn a quadruped out of it's environment, but I decided to give you a challenge that didn't just blow up like Nejiron, I'd give you an exiled Alpha. Enjoy Daruhan

Damn, now there were 2 of them, this was starting to get out of hand. Taking the momentary reprieve, he put his hands into the water, touching the stone beneath and calling upon the earth for strength. Rocks formed over his forearms and hands. He then began to approach the green eyed wolf, but was sure to pay the red eyed beast that had just shown itself proper attention too, he continued looking for something to add to his reach. He would have to be on his best game to make it out of this in one piece. He lunged forwards towards the bipedal wolfos, but, expecting some kind of sideways dodge he took a wide swing at him, putting his full weight into it. Knowing this would throw him off balance he followed through with the motion to tuck into a roll and keep mobile. He felt he would be a harder mark that way.
Hurray Star Wars references! Gonna fight me some wolf bois. Daxton

The Bipedal Wolfos didn't lunge to the side this time, but instead, decided to try and stay where those arms would have a hard time reaching him. He'd figured out that those arms are something you don't want catching you. Leaping upwards, the Wolfos planted all four, large front paws inluded, and jumped off of the rocky back, landing in the water with a splash. Turning back to the Quad doing nothing, the Biped let out one harsh bark before snapping his attention forward once more, a low growl putting the Biped back in his place. The Quadruped, obviously more even tempered than his bipedal companion, still didn't pounce, but instead, watched as the rock now rolled. It knew what a Goron was, it was once one of the denizens of those red rocked ranges. But now here he was, exiled by his pack, stuck at the foot of Akkala, fur always hardening thanks to the constant rainfall and the lack of lava. If anything, the Wolfos no longer had anything it could dive and maneuver in. The Biped let his four legged alpha do his own thing. While the Goron rolled, the Biped picked up a sprint towards you, snapping and barking at the defensive form, unable to get a good place to bite at before he really committed to getting in too close.
- Good thing I don't know star wars hehe. Daruhan

This was good, the wolfos couldn’t get a good strike off on him because of his defensive rolling. Unfortunately, he really couldn’t hurt the agile beast in this stance either. Daruhan would have to find some way to stike back if this battle was going to get anywhere. He rolled around for a bit more, waiting for the bipedal wolfos to strike again. When it did he would pop out of his ball and grab at the beast, swinging with his other hand if he caught the monster. Or, if such an opportunity didn’t present itself while rolling he would stop and wait for the beast to come to him again. He was growing tired of the monster’s hit and run tactics. Daruhan was very wary of the quad wolfos, it was very uncommon to see such a thing in this part of hyrule. It looked like it was better suited for life on Death Mountain. Being in such a cold climate was most likely not very good for it. Given the scars it looked as though it was exiled from its pack. Daruhan could only imagine the beast that would be capable of removing the red eyed wolfos before him from command.
I'm starting to understand why Daruk was afraid of dogs. They're crazy and everywhere. Daxton

Well, you got the Wolfos and you struck it. Luckily, it was the weaker of the two and crumpled after another powerful blow, blacking out on the ground and laying on it's back in the pool of water, chest heaving every now and then. The Quad on the other hand, finally stepped up with a growl, baring his teeth and taking a flexible stance. With no other movements rather than simply opening it's wide maw, the Quad wolfos watched the Goron. It was adapted to Death Mountain, and it knew how to fight a Goron, unlike it's idiotic pack member laying in the water.
