Seeing as he was done with his hunt she dived off her rock and swam in one breath to the shore. For a while she just floated letting the water carry her further onto the beach and then she just laid there staring at the bright blue sky; waves crashing onto her. The water acted as a soothing salve to her frayed and twisted befuddlement of nerves. She picked herself up letting the sand cling to her scales, her eyes followed the ground as she walked.
Once outside the parameters of his fire she secured her spear into the sand and set to work with her catch. “Well this should hold you over till at least after some sparring,” she said cheerily.
She didn’t want him to back out of sparring with her, she had already begun to catch onto some of his reservations about being wholly himself and she really did want him to be comfortable and himself around her in entirety. She placed three of the four fish onto skewers around the fire and began to clean and gut the last one before filleting it and eating her fish sans the fire.
Not every fish had to be cooked and sometimes nothing was better than the clear meat of a fresh kill. Noticing for the first time, upon reflection, that he always cooked his fish she looked at him quizzically “So…this might be…less than tactful but I am curious, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want but…does fresh fish not work with…erm…your new…um“ she motioned clumsily towards his body really not sure how to approach such an intimate question. She only asked out of a desire to learn how to be a better companion to him though. If she understood more she could help him in some way, maybe.
If it were possible anyway

Am I part of them? Are they part of me? |
He had all of his fish cooking, and was already turning them some as he crossed his legs, listening to Lelana. "Yup! Better than nothin'!" He spoke back with just as much cheer in his voice, watching to make sure the fish was well cooked on both sides as he kept turning them. "Uh." He pursed his lips, careful not to bite his own lips with his teeth. The question did make him feel a little self concious, his new appetite and metabolism was incredibly unnatural.
"Well. Cooked fish always holds out in my stomach longer." He admitted carefully, looking up to Lelana with a small grin. "That n it helps me keep my er... instincts n' check if I eat it cooked, get rid of the taste of blood n what not." The last part, he admitted under his breath. He was embarrassed of it, more than apprehensive. At this point, he was pretty sure that Lelana was going to accept his whole monstrous nature. Just, luckily, she hasn't seen him follow those said instincts.
He could hug her or something, it was absolutely refreshing traveling with someone, especially someone that accepts you. Even once they parted ways, he'd definitely have a lot of his confidence back. He just wished he knew what he could do to appease Ganon more. It was both a blessing and a shame that Lelana wouldn't turn as well. It was entirely her choice though, and he couldn't blame her at all. The change was unpredictable, and it was a curse in the long run in a world full of people that want you dead on sight or flee. He wouldn't wish it on her, and to be honest, if it ever came up, he'd fight against the idea.

She nodded curiously as dawning crossed over her face “I can imagine that keeping those instincts in check can be difficult.” She mused rubbing her chin; she found it very interesting and to be honest a tad bit frightening as she grew to understand that he had monstrous traits. She had a strong resolve to keep her mind open in his instance, to give him room to learn and grow even though she knew someday she would be faced with a situation that would test her dedication to that cause. That was the price they would have to pay to maintain their friendship. This fact hadn’t been lost on her, she wasn’t stupid enough to think that the reality of their dynamic would set in at some point.
In fact, it had already begun to be challenged; back in Lanayru when those skulltila had found them. He had said they were creatures of Ganon and they had wanted to kill her if she would not convert to their cause. She knew that it was not something she would entertain in the slightest and she appreciated how Flynn had yet to even pressure her about making a choice like that. Though she doubted he would she knew that if it was something he did ask of her that her resolve would be tested again. She liked to think she would stay strong in her own convictions, however, she would be fooling both Hylia and herself if it wouldn’t be something she wrestled with for a long time. She would have to leave at that point, to keep her head clear and unbiased regardless of her feelings. Allying with Ganon was not something one did on a whim of feelings in a moment. There were so many bad things that could only come from it.
After a while she would stand up to leave Flynn to his munching; resting a hand on his shoulder as she walked past “I’m going to go warm up some. Take your time, I know you need to keep your energy levels high,” she smiled warmly at him in an effort to mask the contemplations running around in her head before she went to grab her spear and take a short walk to an open piece of beach.
She hadn’t worked on this terrain before so she began with a simple warm up routine after stretching to familiarize herself with the movements of the sand as she lunged, parried, and blocked an invisible assailant. She didn’t show all her tricks though, she would keep her acrobatic agility to a minimum in her warm up. She didn’t want him having an edge if he was paying attention. If anything, her warm up was tame in comparison to a real fight.

Am I part of them? Are they part of me? TAG. LelanaTHEME. xxxNOTES. oh god right. long pointy things. |
The male sat by the fire for just a bit longer. It didn't take him long to finish the fish he had caught and before Lelana knew it, he was stepping outside. Oh.. right.. she used a spear, fuck. His eyes stayed locked on the weapon for a bit and he honestly started to reconsider his choice in this whole sparring idea. His own, beat up Katana was held loosely in his hand, still sheathed, though the loose grip tensed when he saw the movements.
The puckered scars littering his body were proof that he had all the right in the world to dislike spears of any kind. Her movements were also so light, he was so brutish now. All lightness there was to be had in his combat style was obliterated and replaced with a raw strength. He now outsped other zoras on land, but no longer in water of any kind, in fact, that's one of the reasons why he loved the murk so much. He had a nose that tipped the scale to give him an advantage, he could easily smell something or another before another Zora could, he, luckily, could also still feel the water movements around him if something disturbed them.
He continued staring for a bit longer, well... he promised to spar with her. Walking over to Lelana, he finally got the guts to speak up. "I'm good ta go, if ya are." No, no he was not good to go. But he masked his nervousness behind a light smile. She wouldn't hurt him with that spear, she would stand over him with it, use it to hold him down. Besides, it was a spear, not a trident. But it was still long... with a pointy end.

Lelana’s spear was basic steel from tip to hilt with the spear head being 2ft in length and slender; it was unadorned and showed no true markings of adornment. For the sake of their little match she grabbed her leather wrapping and tied it deftly around the head. It would be better to be safe than sorry and she had never sparred with him before and she didn’t want to risk under compensating for his bulk and striking him.
She also didn’t plan to outright attack him, let him advance and she would parry, dodge, and defend. That’s what she needed the most practice in anyway. “Don’t hold back too much, I need to practice my defenses more than my attack” she paused noting the hint of unease in his voice “Let me know if you need to stop for whatever reason,” she was trying to hide her own mild nervousness now that she was faced with a challenge.
Like most Zora she didn’t wear any armor or full body clothing. She did have her belt she wore about her hips where she kept her hunting knife and a few pouches. She was exposed to his blade but she trusted there was no real danger from it. Unless she was careless, ok maybe this was a bit of a bad idea…oh well no turning back now.
He was massive in comparison to her 5’9” 135lb self. Maybe she had bit off more than she could chew. However, she would face larger challenges that would be bent on killing her, she was sure of that. She was safe, she trusted that much, to explore the deficits of her disadvantages. She also wanted to push him to not handle her with hyper awareness of that difference; she hoped to do that by proving she could handle anything he threw at her. This sort of exercise would hopefully grant her that opportunity.
Worst case scenario she would abandon her ranged weapon in an effort to evade his blade, get in close and use his size against him.
“Now,” she said taking her position sideways flesh along the length of her spear right arm at her stomach left arm stretched out towards the head, a playful smile across her face. “Let’s have some fun”

The tip of the spear may have been covered, but fear was still fear. He'd tough it out though. For safety, grabbing the straps attached to the sheath, used to bind to his belt when he carried it on his hip or shoulder, and bound the sword to stay inside the sheath. He didn't want it flying off and risk cutting her with it. Zora skin could be notoriously fragile. Taking a deep breath, he gave her an awkward, lop sided grin, even as she took on her own stance.
Flynn dropped his weight a little bit, pants giving him enough room to stretch into the position. Ever since he had turned monster, he had to take up actually wearing the human clothes known as 'pants' for a number of reasons. Both of his hands gripped his katana, the tip of the blade pointed at her. Without hesitation, he stepped in and swung the blade in a harsh, sharp arc to test her grip on the spear before stepping back. "How long have ya been workin' on fightin?"
He asked her not only out of curiosity, but mostly to take his mind off of the fact that there was another spear aimed at him. While it was harmless sparring, he couldn't help but have a fear of it. The memories, he pushed out of his head and kicked to the side. He'd have to stay positive! She wouldn't harm him intentionally, he seriously doubted it, refused to believe it. After another moment though, he'd step in and swing his sword in a series of three arcs.

Her grip was tight on her spear and when he hit it with the force of his sheathed blade it only gave way mildly before she refocused it to be centered on him. His strength in that swing had been felt through her entire body and if he had used anymore of his strength he would have successfully knocked her sideways.
As he advanced she blocked his first strike standing her ground testing to see if she could find an opening and shoved his blade back from her spear not allowing it to push her off center. “I’ve began training shortly before your exile” she said as she stepped to the right and forward thrusting her spear up to meet his blade before it came down completely in its swing. “I was going to wait to tell you when you came back to the medic ward,” her eyes were focused as she spoke as the third arch cut towards her she ducked down out of its range sliding forward to thrust her spear up at him.
She shouldn’t talk about that too much right now about that, it would upset her focus and she didn’t need another disadvantage. Her heart began to race as she moved deftly in an effort to avoid his strikes while trying to get her own attacks past his defenses.

Flynn clicked his tongue as his strike was parried and went on the defensive. He went silent as well, now entirely focused on dodging the attacks coming towards him until he could hop back a few paces, out of reach. He was incredibly focused on not being touched by the spear, at all, even if it was covered. Stepping back in, he started with the three arcing strikes with a bit more force, using them to leading into a series of horizontal strikes.
He never actually got close enough to hit her with it, considering the force from his swings alone could cause major bruising to wherever it made contact, also considering that she wanted to practice parrying, here she goes.

As he advanced she jumped back; opening their engagement distance again as she thrusted her spear forward forcefully to catch his blade again. She repeated this motion a few times as he kept advancing on her. She needed higher ground to have a better advantage otherwise she would be forced to only retreat.
In her peripheral vision she saw an outcropping of rocks to her left and she continued to allow him to advance on her as she would force his blade away using the full force of her body she swung her spear around to meet his blade to deflect it and giving her the room she needed. Once she had that room she jumped forward thrusting her spear as she did so, she used the momentum of her forward jump to crouch and launch her body back into the air in a back flip before landing deftly onto the rocks.
She was now eye level with him and it allowed a more level scope for her blade. She grasped it at the hilt in her left hand, leaving the other 5ft of the rod behind her to act as a balancing pole. She had trained to be able to engage with the core weapons and holding her spear in this manner created a tachi range giving her more immediate control of her blade.
Lelana had made it a point to train to be as gracefully adept on rocky shores and open land as if she were fight in the water. It wasn’t as elegant if she had been fighting below the water’s surface but it was sufficient enough that she could maneuver cleverly when faced with a larger, more skilled land combatant.
She would grin at him mischievously before she prepared to defend against his next onslaught. ● Flynn ● fishy has tricks●

He watched as she made her way up onto a rock, coming eye level with him. That grin though, had him narrowing his eyes some as he started the arcs once again, though he was using them to push his self in further, close enough that he could duck down, put his head next to her hip and an arm around it to try and lift her up and bring her down into the water with a tackle. "Grin at me, will ya."
If he was able to get her down in the water, he'd pin her with his weight on her waist, katana still in hand, grinning back. He was trained for this sort of stuff, and it all, apparently, was still in his muscle memory. He just wasn't as agile as he used to be. Which kinda sucked in the long run.
