I am immune to you.
You are immune to me.
You are immune to me.
We are both sick
souls with the same disease.
Yara took note of his clipped tone and ever deepening frown. His anger was boiling but there wasn’t much that Yara could do to placate it, she had managed to get to a place where she didn’t take it personally 100% of the time. He was always full of rage, regardless of if he showed it or not, it just so happened that presently he was showing it and Yara was damned if she did and damned if she didn’t. There wasn’t going to be anything that would change that except maybe lessen the rage…and well Yara was not in a position of skill that her performance could do anything.
She sighed heavily, her shoulders relaxing a little and she went about her work of lowering the maze back into to the earth. She didn’t turn her back on him though, he didn’t take well to disregard even if it was just a normal act of being around another person, and if she turned her back on him it meant that there was at least a subconscious level of trust. However, he wasn’t under wraps with his anger and she had learned through observation and her own mishaps that you didn’t turn your back on a pissed off Master Bear.
As she worked she thought about his terse, painfully simple solution. She had known there was a need for real danger, even the densest foot soldier could figure that out. She hadn’t been given orders to leave the compound and again she was in a damned if she did, damned if she didn’t. If she didn’t do anything and simply gawked at him he would leave her in the dirt like a useless waste of time, if she did take the initiative it could be the wrong initiative it had happened before and she was fortunate that situation had resolved in the way that it had.
The last of the walls sunk into the earth leaving no trace they had ever been there. It was time to take the training gloves off and start dealing with the bigger picture. She came up beside him again and looked up at the sky determining that it was still early enough in the day that she could probably go find someone or something to contend with.
“Permission to leave the compound?” she asked looking at him from the corner of her eye, he was still staring out at the exit of the hideout, so either he was already thinking of sending her out there or she was bad at assumptions.
After all she was a foot soldier and it was ingrained into her that she did not move without specific orders.
