Goron
|
Post by Daruhan on Feb 8, 2021 12:47:20 GMT -8
“Lunch time already” Daruhan thought to himself as his stomach added its own rumblings to those of the earth beneath the rolling goron. The sun was bright and cheery, the birds were chirping in the nearby trees, and he had packed his favorite travel gravel.
Daruhan scooped a small handful of the delectable treats into his mouth as he steps into the cool shallows of a nearby river. He smiles, taking in the novelty of the cool water as it babbles about his feet. After all of the recent lessons and lectures about his new responsibilities, the comparatively easy burden of travel was a much-needed change.
After enjoying the water for a brief time Daruhan sets about bout making himself a campfire to better enjoy his meal. Getting the fire lit, and his meal in it, he sits back and lets out a contented goron sigh, enjoying the growing aroma of wood-smoked igneous.

Time to spread my wings Well, things were active enough for Zeke when he was forced to do things, otherwise, he'd just nap all day. So here he was, doing some kind of mercenary work that included tracking something and finding himself at a creek, losing the trail. Wonderful. What kind of psycho would send him out here to deal with something that may or may not even actually be out here. The tracks were just a guess he figured he may as well follow because what else did he have? Zeke though, didn't have much time to stand about like a dumbass and think on it though. He'd already gone well past lunch time and his body was letting him know about it. The Rito that all raised him would be bitter if they knew of him skipping lunch like this so he walked a ways down the creek, stopping when he saw a fire. Could have been a campfire, but also with the way that monsters have been acting, it could have been anything from that to a damn wildfire. Curious and apparently stupid as well, Zeke walked towards the fire, halting when he saw a goron. "A goron? Hey dude, you alright?"Was it normal for a goron to be out in hyrule field from death mountain? Hell if he knew. Daruhan

Goron
|
Post by Daruhan on Feb 11, 2021 16:55:23 GMT -8
Daruhan turns his head towards the newcomer, equally surprised as they apparently were to see a traveler on the roads, and puts on a warm smile, “Hey, Brother. Don’t worry about me, the only thing bothering me right now is the wait for these to finish.” He motions to the pile of smoldering rocks amidst the glowing embers. The smile widens, “I’d offer you some but I’ve been told goron food’s usually too spicy for hylian tastes.”
Daruhan pushes himself to his feet and claps the dirt off his hands before extending one towards the shirtless hylian. “Name’s Daruhan, I’m headed to the Village to see if anyone is in need of me there. If you’re traveling that way, you’re more than welcome to come along. Slowing down has almost always been worth the company on the road.”

Time to spread my wings Zeke smiled and shook his head. "Raised by Rito, actually. With an uncanny ability to handle spicy food." It was part challenge part clarification. The tattoos covering the man bore the Rito symbol on his arm as well as he moved closer to the Goron. "I don't think I'd be able to make a good trade with you though so maybe the bet can be held off? You can just call me Zeke. Full name is a mouthful."
The half gerudo man gave the Goron a smile before finally moving in closer to place his hand into the massive Goron's own, offering the best hand shake he could give a hand so large. "I've been tracking a damn creature I don't think actually exists so. If it's the village that-a-way, the same guy I need to tell that the creature doesn't exist to is in said village." Zeke pointed in the direction of a road not far off from where Daruhan was resting.
It was either the same village or a neighboring one. "Did I find a competing mercenary or just a friendly Goron lookin to help?" Monsters had certainly been on the rise lately, and honestly having the Goron's help deal with things made life... so much easier. But also how much harder was it for the Goron race as well up there on that mountain? Huh... If he wasn't so lazy with no motivation, he'd go check it out himself.

Goron

Daruhan beams as he shakes the young man’s hand in a manner he felt would be enthusiastic, but gentle enough as to not cause harm to the lad. “Ah! It’s certainly a pleasure to meet you, Zeke!” He releases Zeke’s forearm from his titanic grasp. “If you’re hungry, brother, you don’t need to worry about paying me. I’ve noticed Goron food doesn’t tend to sit too well with you smaller guys though, but, if you feel like you can handle it, I’ve got plenty and can cook more.” He pats the meal bag of rocks on the ground.
The Goron nods his head, motioning towards the town Zeke pointed out, “Yep, that should be the one there. You say there’s a guy there that wanted you to track some sort of phantom creature?” He lifts a hand to scratch at his fiery-red beard. “I might be able to help you out. I’m no mercenary though.” He cracks a grin, trying, and failing to hide his pride, “You see, I’m not just another strong-armed Goron. I’m a bonified Goron Hero.” He chuckles, “But I guess that just makes me a merc with a reputation to uphold, doesn’t it?”
Daruhan drops the prideful demeanor, “I mean, if we’re headed the same way, I don’t see why we couldn’t travel together and maybe find a job we can work. I’m sure whatever they’ll have worth our combined efforts would be great fun. What do you think?”

Time to spread my wings Zeke takes a moment to consider the Goron in front of him before giving a hefty shrug, shaking out the arm that was shook before sitting down not too far from the Goron but not too close to make him potentially uncomfortable. He thought he had heard on the wind somewhere that a divine beast had found a pilot. It was so odd... but it was also so hopeful in the catastrophe that followed Lurelin. "What the hell, I'll try a rock." Carefully, he pulls one of the smaller ones from the bag before inspecting it with a sniff before holding it up to Daruhan in a cheers. "What are we all anymore? If not just Mercenaries?" Scars everywhere reminded them of the Calamity that happened two-hundred years ago. The land had healed as much as possible from when Calamity was felled just one-hundred years ago but... Well, a lot of people that remained were still left without job that wasn't farmer or traveling merchant. There were plenty of Mercenaries because they were needed. Traveling sell-swords looking to help people for their form of income. "But yea, some guy sent me after what he thought was a Wolfos but with wings. And I just. Sir. I've only ever seen feathered Wolfos in my entire life and they never leave the peaks. They can't survive with other ground predators, they need sheer cliffs and I just... I'm out here looking for a literal winged Wolfos so I can give him some peace of mind." He explained his monster situation with a huff, looking at the rock in his hand. Well, there was no point in letting it get cold. Taking the rock, he crunched down on it. Not as hard as most would expect rocks to be, but Gorons had their own specific rocks they liked to eat. Though while it was hot, it was also spicy. "WOW." He swallowed and coughed some, laughing. "Just like Mama bird would make her seafood dishes that has a punch." After a little bit more laughter, he took another bite. "Not something I should eat daily, obviously, but you Goron know your spice. What's in it?"

“Winged Wolfos, huh? Can’t say I’ve ever seen anything like that this far down the peaks myself! Hmmmm.” He runs a thoughtful finger through his beard before raising a finger above his head. “Ah! Since you’re out looking for wolfos, if you see a lone volcanic wolfos around don’t worry about him. That’s probably just my buddy Skol. He tends to worry people on the roads, so he hunts during the day and meets back up with me when we camp.” The goron squints and scans the horizon, more out of practiced habit than hoping to see his wolfos. “He shouldn’t be too hard to distinguish from a wild one, he has a collar…. And wont attack you unless you give him reason to.”
Daruhan gives a toothy grin as he watches Zeke eat his raw ration and his eyes light up at his question. “Ah! Would you believe it if I told you it was mostly plants? It’s got a blend of spicy peppers grown in volcanic soil, even some ground up cinnamon tree bark in it.” He pulls a hot one out of the fire before popping it into his mouth and chewing happily. “The rock itself is actually mixed with bentonite clay, which gives it that kinda soft, soil-like texture to it, instead of the usual hardness of the rock.” he motions to the handful of heated lumps still in the fire, “If you want more, help yourself, they’re way better warm.”

Time to spread my wings Zeke listened to Daruhan speak, finishing off the rock before he shook his head. "No thanks man. Was good n all but like I said, probably not the best thing for me to keep on eatin. Still a really good combination of spices, I liked it." Zeke would say before stretching his legs out, careful of the fire as he also looked around the area. "As for that winged wolfos. I'm thinking he probably saw a normal wolfos with a Kargaroc or something bothering it."Zeke had yet to see a wolfos with legitimate wings. The closest damn thing was still the feathered ones in Tabantha. Their plumage along their backs looked like wings, very stubby wings, and had no purpose other than to help streamline their bodies as they dashed along, up and down sheer cliff faces. "Wait hold on, you actually tamed a Wolfos?" He turned his head back to the Goron, curious now at the fact that this goron had somehow made companions with a volcanic wolfos. Granted, he didn't know anything about them, practically next to nothing about them really, other than rumors that Death Mountain creatures typically left the others well enough alone. "Man you gotta tell me how. I've always wanted to see if I couldn't befriend one of those feathered fuckers that hang our cliff faces. They don't ever really attack it seems. They just like, watch and wait. Don't know if I'm being stalked or they're actually curious." Daruhani keep forgetting too that Zeke was lined up to get a feathered wolfos.
